Just thought i'd ask you all. How's your Toilet Paper situation in the wake of the Panic Demic?
I live in a town 2 hours North of Edmonton and we have 3 major stores. IGA, Walmart and No Frills. Saturday I went to buy toilet paper because we were out. This was before I even heard of the panic buying. I am glad I did because today (Tuesday) our whole town was out of the stuff. Hand sanitizer too and kleenex is getting sparse.
Have you had trouble getting toilet paper?

The weirdest thing @TudorChick , I had noticed our stock pile of TP was down to the last few packages last week and truth be told I never expected TP would be a thing people would panic buy over a flu.
Then I was at Sobeys on Sunday and lucked into a sale of my fav. kind .....Cashmere Ultra for just $4.99 ( 12 = 24 rolls ), so I grabbed 6.
Later at WM all I could find in the line of hand sanitizer were packages of the One Step brand individually wrapped wipes, so I grabbed 10 bags of those. Crazy times about to get even crazier!

@Shwa Girl they ( TP and Covid 19 ) don't go together, but we can sometimes be like sheep, if we see customers filling their carts we assume they know something we don't, or it could be we allow our minds to play the " what if ? " game.
We've all played that at one time or another.
So with the TP, we may think " what if the companies making the TP have to shut down, or their employees are all placed in quarantine??
No logic to it at all but it can allow us to be convinced to stock up.

I could be wrong for sure but I was told the shortage is because if you and your family are confined to your residence for two weeks or maybe more. I guess you could use things like cloths and then keep washing them but tp sure is a lot easier.
All the stores around me are usually sold out of the regular size packs of tp and sometime may have a few of the extra large bags still available. My wife took a inventory of our small inventory and figures that between the tp ,Kleenex and paper towels (sure not a preferred substitute but would make due) we should be ok but if a sale comes up in my area and there is stock available I will grab some more just to be safe.

I saw about 8-10 packages of tp left at Giant Tiger yesterday. My mom said Freshco had lots.

My sister sent a picture of the tp aisle in the Walmart in Burlington and there is nothing left (and I mean everything is gone) in the tp and paper towel aisle. My wife went to Costco to pick up prescriptions and was going to pick up a couple of things while she was there but she said she only did my prescription because the place is the worse she has ever seen it. She thought she might try the RCSS in Newmarket and called me from there that she is going to be a while just trying to go thru the checkout because of the line up. She told me she looked at the tp aisle out of curiosity and was not surprised to see all the tp gone and not much left of the paper towels

I don't need it right now as a few weeks ago velour was on sale at shoppers for 4.99 and I had 1.00 cpns so I got 4
But my son grabbed a last one on his way home tonight at a sobeys and my daughter in Toronto only has 5 rolls left and didn't get any last week as she couldn't carry it to the car with a toddler .
I just heard a specialist say on t.v that toilet paper is a comfort thing -whatever that entails '
Oh and yesterday I price matched 6 pkg of Scotties to sobeys price at Walmart for 4.99 .good thing as I have a cold right now.

Did some shopping for my parents...
RCSS Newmarket: EMPTY (Except for a few packs of Charmin Strong 8=24)
Zehrs Bradford: EMPTY (Except for a few packs of Cashmere 8=24 and Cottenelle, None of the Cashmere that is promo)
Haven't checked my RCSS, but I go in tonight for work, and I imagine it will be wiped clean despite being full before I left on Tuesday morning...

The RCSS I shop at all the shelves was cleared of Toilet paper and Paper towel on Monday it was restocked on Wednesday I went to get some today and the shelves was once again empty. Since I am well known at that store I had a talk with the front end manager and was told that the can’t keep up with the demand.

Well... Our stock came and went. When I got in last night, the paper aisle was all but completely empty (Only some single boxes of facial tissue left)...
We didn't get much in our order for the paper aisle and within 5 mins of opening, the toilet paper that was there was cleared out. So none at RCSS St.Kitts, Zehrs Glendale isn't looking much better (None to minimal TP, little paper towel and little facial tissue)

I am super duper glad I went when I did. I have 26 rolls. that will last our family of 3 like weeks...but I do dread when we do run out. I heard from a friend that works at our walmart that she had customers from EDMONTON at 8 am to get the stuff...

I feel awful for my Dad though. He's a senior who hardly goes to stores and he only goes when OUT of stuff. So today when he asked me where he can get a good deal on TP i only could say "where you can get some". I wish people wouldn't hoard. I know this is a coupon community and we do stockpile but what i have seen on the news with 8 stacked high of 30 plus rolls is Hoarding, no question. Sad, really.
