Thread: Online shopping websites that don't accept their store gift cards for payments

    Something I have noticed during April and May 2020 is that some online shopping versions of the bricks and mortar retails stores will not take their own store gift cards as payments against online orders. If you are willing to chase gift card deals and expect to use them for online shopping, time to go "whoa" and assess your options.

    Given that online shopping is the main option outside of grocery and pharmacy in-person shopping, you may want to look at your pocketful, drawerful or fistful of gift cards.

    Online purchases can be made with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, PayPal or Discover credit card. Debit cards will not work, but a Visa Debit Card will.

    Most of the gift cards we received were for restaurants and thank goodness they accept them for payment.

    I have also heard Canadian Tire is not accepting their gift cards online
