Rooster brand Mushroom Soy Sauce is 25 cents/500 ml bottle. Store limit is 24 of anything per customer, so I got 2 cases which should last me a good long while lol.

For those who are unfamiliar with mushroom soy sauce, it's quite different from the regular kinds. It doesn't taste the same in a way that's hard to describe completely other than it has more umami, it can be a fair bit saltier depending on the brand (I haven't tried Rooster), and although it may not seem much darker, it's MUCH browner when mixed into soups, sauces, etc.

I just did a little taste-test, & it's about equal in saltiness to Lee Kum Kee Premium Soy, perhaps a tiny bit less. It tastes quite strong, with a noticeable undertone of mushroom. I quite like it, I'll just be careful of quantity used per dish. You're right, that brown is VERY intense & opaque.
