Space heater
I looking to replace my Sunbeam heater that died. Does anyone have one that they recommend?
I bought one last year from Costco but had to return it as it was very noisy. I was on the Canadian Tire website and the reviews for the ones they carry are terrible.
Any comments, reviews very much appreciated!

We have used oil based ones for years without a problem

I agree with @Thatdone ... we use the oil based radiator style and they heat up quickly, heat well, and do not use alot of hydro. No fa, no air blowing on you, just nice radiant heat! We use it in the bathroom to heat up before glorious showers and then heat the towels before and dry after the showers. Loverly!

I heard the oil ones sometimes leak - is that true? Do you recommend that I buy one at Canadian Tire? Would it heat up my living room?

I use the one we own to heat a fair sized bedroom without a problem and have to turn it down because it gets too hot in the room. I do not recall the make but we bought it at Zellers (now closed down) years ago. I guess it is like anything and each different one will be of different quality and you should read the reviews of all the different ones and they may even have different specs as to how big of a area each different one will heat. I cannot tell you the brand name of ours because i do not recall right now and it is at place up north

We have had ours for almost 20 years and it has never leaked. I got it at a lumber store that is no longer around. I have not looked at CDN Tire so do not know what they have. The brand we have is a Holmes. It has two levels of heat with a thermostat switch also. Give it some time and it would definitely heat a room. Radiator style will do that better than air blowing IMHO.
