The Covid government related T4A slip will be like this:

The T4A will have specific boxes for the various benefits which needs to be reported on line 13000 - Other Income in the tax return.

• Box 197 – Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB)
• Box 198 – Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB)
• Box 199 – Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB) for eligible students with disabilities or those with children or other dependents
• Box 200 – Provincial/Territorial COVID-19 financial assistance payments
• Box 202 – Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB)
• Box 203 – Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit (CRSB)
• Box 204 – Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit (CRCB)

Box 022 - Will be the Income Tax deducted.

10% withholding tax deducted on CRB (Canada Recovery Benefit ) will be shown here.

CERB had NO tax deducted or withheld. Only CRB did.

8-10 Business days. Saturday, Sunday, Holiday not included.

The day it tells you your Notice of Assessment will be available, the same day the refund will be deposited usually by late evening.

Log into your My Account on CRA and see when your NOA will be available. Same day will be your refund via direct deposit.

Mine says March 4, Thursday. So my refund by DD will be on March 4.

If you don't have Direct Deposit than on that day they will mail the refund check via Canada Post. Pretty much everyone has DD nowadays.

Was your return immediately Assessed or does it say IN PROCESS?

If already Assessed you should get it on Thursday, March 4 or Friday, March 5 by late evening via Direct Deposit in your bank.

Yes the tax preparation software like TurboTax, UFile, Studio tax etc will only say transmitted or submitted or accepted by CRA. They don't know whether CRA processed it or not. They just electronically submit your return to CRA that's all.

Assessed or In Process you can only see in your CRA - My Account after logging in

Do you have or have you registered for
My Account on CRA website?

Even if you haven't registered, you can still log into My Account in CRA using your Bank Credentials - Bank user id, password, security question.

Refund was directly deposited today on March 4, 2021.

Netfiled on February 22, 2021.

NOA was also made available today in PDF format on My Account in CRA.

@lolita83 and rest of Smart Canucks-CRA is going to freeze another 800,000 CRA accounts tomorrow.

Those persons who signed up for e-mail notifications will get next steps by e-mail. The others will get instructions by mail.

Received the email telling me my uid/pwd was revoked. Very simple to create a new set of authentication credentials. However using the new credentials I only get access to partial online data until CRA code arrives in the mail.

However, still able to get full access to my CRA information via bank credentials. So not a big inconvenience.

Note: this revocation did not apply to My Service Canada account.

Someone was telling me CRA processes all returns in batches on Monday and Wednesday.

So generally the tax refunds by direct deposit, Notice of Assessment and assessment dates will be on a Tuesday or a Thursday.

So far it seems to be true in my case & people I know. All of them have had a tax refund and assessment date on a Tuesday or a Thursday!

@tjthemanto Thanks for the insight! Then the system dates for batch processing conveniently avoids statutory holidays that fall on Friday or Monday, as the coming Easter will prove.

Sent off my receipts electronically to the accountant for handling. We choose to let him do it and we do not have to think!

This year with the reduced RRIF payments from 2020 (due to govt allowing us to be less than normal) our income may be low enough to take advantage of the hydro rebate monthly for 2 years! We may qualify for $40.00 off for two years! That would be a nice bonus! Shall see when returns are done and we submit the request.

CRA login services

Revoked CRA user ID and password

Some taxpayers may have received notification that their CRA user ID and password has been revoked when attempting to sign in to their CRA account. Visit CRA user ID and password have been revoked for more information.



Impacted individuals can continue to file their income tax return online using NETFILE certified software, and can apply for emergency benefits once a different login method is used, or a new CRA user ID and password is established. If you are unable to use this online option wait until after March 22, 2021 before you call the CRA.

Checked my bank account after 9am online and tax credit was there. Two quick purchases followed afterwards!
Yes, @tjthemanto , the Tuesday and Thursday dates for NOAs and direct deposits are accurate!
