Have someone going to university right now or in the next year? Time to scope out what scholarships exist at your college or university of choice are offered.

New scholarship at Carleton University: the Jay Woo Family & CAA Scholarship
    http://apply.carleton.ca/awards2/sch...=yes&titlepat=

Jay Woo is the head of CAA SouthCentral Ontario and a Carleton University graduate. He wants to help future students get to go to university and add to their leadership skills. I read the article in the Spring 2021 issue of CAA Magazine.

Current post-secondary students-if you are on reading week right now or will be next week:

-visit your school's list of scholarships and check deadlines. There could be opportunities to apply very soon so as to be considered for the next academic year. Don't miss out because you did not check the deadline and requirements.

-if you work at certain organizations or volunteer, there may be bursaries you are eligible for because you are a member or employee AND attending post-secondary education. Check for requirements and deadlines-often in winter or early spring!

-keep tabs on your school's portal for your T2202A slips and print 2 copies for the person doing your income tax returns. They are not mailed out and your family can't get them for you.

    Current high school students:

-service groups and community foundations may offer bursaries for high-school students heading to university. Often there is a written component and possibly a speaking component. You may be eligible if related to a member or are a resident in the area being served.

-some corporations have foundations that offer bursaries. See what the requirements are to apply for the bursaries. Every bit helps to pay for your tuition and books!

-get familiar with the loans programs in your province or territory if that is the option open to you to pursue post-secondary education. If there are any people you know who have used the programs, get some of their insights on deadlines, paperwork and timing based on their experience so you have a better understanding of what you may experience.

Thank you letters/e-mails are highly recommended to the schools/award sponsors when you receive funding towards your education! Think e-portfolio!

Another idea for the mathematically-inclined high school students...

If you are considering attending the University of Waterloo, you should really consider writing the University of Waterloo annual math contests. The results of these are definitely used in consideration for assignment of scholarships.

Although this isn’t a scholarship from a specific college or university, I came across a scholarship that’s good for all Canadian students in any field. It’s open to graduate and undergraduate students (only for citizens and permanent residents) with a minimum 3.5 GPA and requires a 500-word essay on your relationship with money. The deadline for applying is Oct. 8, 2021.

Two fully-funded Indigenous post-graduate scholarships at the University of Windsor will be funded by Teppermans. The retail chain has six locations, one of which is in Windsor ON. One master's degree scholarship and one PhD scholarship will be open to eligible graduate students of Indigenous heritage.

I checked the University of Windor's website for student awards. The scholarships are not showing on the list even with Keyword Name search. https://www.uwindsor.ca/studentawards/

Not sure how easy it is to get reference letters from post-secondary educators for graduate study grants but women in higher education (full-time studies) can apply for the Soroptimist Foundation of Canada grants of $8500 each. January 31 deadline. Please note which regional grants manager e-mail address applies to your application (West or East):
