@Angela273 ... Blossom End Rot is most likely caused by not enough calcium ... happens in tomatoes also. I put down chicken poo pellets and it resolves the issue. This is the brand I use. Not sure of the numbers, but I can check if you are interested: https://www.homehardware.ca/en/10kg-...izer/p/5024605

@GoodBoy Would crushed eggshells add enough calcium or would we be talking about a few dozen eggs' worth of shells to even make a dent in the calcium need?

Did a shop at Walmart-amazingly not busy, but with shoppers in certain aisles. Checked baby girl clothing-different setup and more racks. Could not get down one last display as someone was trying shoes from opposite side of aisle and her cart was smack in the centre of the aisle. Did not see Canadiana skorts but did find baby boy Baby Yoda onesies (one left in blue! several in grey) and baby girl versions (pink trim at neck and sleeves/leg openings) of the same onesies.
Produce-found mint but not fennel. Found a $1 bag of huge carrots but I could not find regular carrots in the cold room, only baby ones. Got a box of peaches (some are ripe and some are needing time) , celery and cucumbers. Remembered the milk but since my list went AWOL on my walk to the store, I know I forgot a couple of things. Could not find 3M sponges! Noticed that all the remaining bottles of Dawn Aloe Essence dish detergent is gone or the shelf space is occupied by other Dawn scents. Got the weekend local paper and a bag of licorice nibs for later in the weekend. Think I have everything I need to make the carrot soup tomorrow.

Walmart bag policy-takes effect Aug 3 that customers have to BYOBag. Cashier told me that all cashier posts have had signage about the bag change for a while. I must have missed the sign when I was last in the local store in late June or early July. He believes the change is nationwide, so you have been informed!

Depending on how the weather strikes tomorrow, I may have a chance to visit Shoppers during a break in rain or have to wait it out for another day. There are always the Olympic Games on two tv stations (if you have US stations like NBC, you have 3 plus any cable ones like RDI) to watch if I get bored.

Blossom end rot can be due to inconsistent watering which inhibits the plants’ ability to pull the right amount of calcium from the soil. I often see ants in the zucchini flowers, but I haven’t seen other pollinators at those. The bees like my dill flowers and visit my tomatoes too. I put bone meal in the garden last year, I haven’t bought more yet this year.

I started composting over a year ago, but I still haven’t figured it out. I’ve found it frustrating and disappointing.

@Ciel21 I have no idea re egg shells. I have only ever used the pellets and have not had rot since.
@Angela273 have never heard of pollinators being a reason but I guess anything is possible. All I know is I had the rot, used the pellets (with proper watering of course) and have not had it since. I hope you figure it out as it is a shame to waste veg due to rot.
