To all of you Halloween Heroes......those that despite the personal OOP cost for candies, chips and the like are willing to open their front doors ( masks on hopefully ) to give wee ones a glimpse of some normalcy and some joy over candies plopped into their baskets, bags, pillow cases for some older kids...lol.
We are not those heroes. Again due to the complete lack of kids on our street ( or even kids willing to venture over here from neighbouring streets ) , we will be lights out, recycle bins blocking the pathway and watching tv downstairs.
This year being on a Sunday ( back when our 3 were young THAT was a gift, especially if it wasn't raining ) a minor wrinkle sprouted when DH said he was going to WM to grab some stuff to hand out....I was flabbergasted!
Of course I protested firmly, as we have not shelled out for at least 4 years and if he opened that can of gummy worms, it would cause confusion next year when i am here alone and lock them all out again.
He relented, then this morning I felt badly, offered to hit up NF for his supplies as they had that Halloween offer ( spend $20.00 on junk, get 10,000 PC points ), but I had dough rising, so I had to wait, form the bread, second rise, then bake.
By that time he said " naw...I probably won't be awake when they come around, forget it."
Whew, we're back to being Halloween Humbugs.

We told the kids a few weeks ago that we weren’t taking them trick or treating this year. We bought some normal bags of chips (cheaper than the Halloween chips and more flavour options) and some fun sized chocolate bar boxes for the kids. Thankfully (unlike most kids here) they were able to wear their costumes to school on Thursday because of their biggest fundraiser being the Halloween walkathon where they walk around the block wearing their costumes. The rain date would have been Friday but that’s when the schools shut down because of the union strike.

Happy Halloween
2nd year in a row that I am not giving out treats because of COVID. That being said I only saw a handful of kids going out trick or treating. I made bags for the few kids that’s closest to my house and delivered it at there door earlier in the afternoon.
