May Frugal Chat 2022

Happy Monday Everyone.

I am in the office again today, still short staffed.

Got a little worried our contractor was late today and was worried he was not going to show up, but he did and confirmed to Mom he will be done tomorrow so we can have our basement back. Yippee, I am happy but this also means we have a lot to tackle next weekend.

We still need to go pick-up our AC unit but until we get the basement back we cannot set it up as there are bins where it needs to sit that need to be moved back down to the basement.

I do not think I mentioned it on here but Friday when I got home with the groceries I noticed the first board on our top step had a gap that had not previously been there. I put the groceries in the house and we back out to look and yep, the board is now moving around. Property management came on Saturday to look at it and the board fell off in his hand.

Good news, we will be getting new stairs in probably 6 to 8 weeks. The delay is there cannot put the new stairs in until the company that did the waterproofing comes back and fixed something and they keep putting off coming back. Once we get the new stairs I will need to stain them, hmmm something else new I have never done before. Need to look into colours of stain, hoping to find a nice greyish colour.

Seriously no joke, I would paint our whole house grey if it were up to me. I find it to be suck a nice natural colour but not white.

I love the grey too! Painted my bedroom that last year. The family room and the entrance and hallway to up stairs as well.

@harbie I would contact L'oreal about Clarisonic refills. Maybe if enough people contact them, they will make replacements? I have a Clinique facial thing and they have discontinued that. Its frustrating.

I have sent them an email. It is very frustrating. I spent around $200 for it and my mom did the same and now it’s a very expensive paper weight. Hopefully they can do something.

Picked up some adorable sugar cookies for our vet that is retiring tomorrow:( . It’s bittersweet because I’ve n
known him since I was 5 years old and have been taking all our pets to him and let’s just say I’m in my late 40’s ;) . I don’t mind spending the cash because it’s for an amazing man and it is from a fabulous local lady that makes beautiful baked goods ( I’ll post pics later).

We had to hit Costco since Dh ran out of frozen pineapple and ended up grabbing a few extra things:) . A bag of a kale mix salad, dempsters veggie wraps and some impossible meat since the double pack was $9.97 which I’m pretty sure means they may not be restocking it after this :( it’s a really good price too.

Also hit up RCSS for a return of some clear bumpers and ended up getting a top and a pj jumper and got 10,000 pc bonus points (not on sale but I was in need of some kind of pjs anyways).

Our weekly budget meeting will be later tonight since Dh was down 2 weeks ago we just did a quick recap and now we have to go through this latest one.

Off for a walk before the rain comes…….

The weather is still not really cooperating. We are under a wind advisory until some time tomorrow. I didn’t get anything done in the yard today, but I tackled a bunch of other things today.

Two loads of laundry. Washed dishes, cooked supper. Applied for continuing teaching contracts in 2 other school divisions, nothing local. Paid some bills, waited on hold to finically finish some other things.

Ds has gymnastics tonight. We parked the van outside while he had class. The twins and I walked from there over to the public library. They picked out a few books, twin girls coloured a picture, and twin boy played blocks with me. I found 3 items for SARCAN and carried them back to the van with me.

The pineapples at Walmart for $1.67 are HUGE! We have 4 :) Will cut one up tonight (its ripe and ready)
I may have to buy 2 more tomorrow.

It sure is a hot one out there! Put the AC on last evening since the house was hot and they were calling for another hot day today. My dog appreciates it!

I am determined not to spend a penny till next Monday. We have lots of food to use up.
For fruit we have a bunch of bananas. 6 lbs of clementines and 4 Pineapples. For fresh veggies we have a bunch of asparagus, 2 cucumbers, celery and 2 romaine hearts. Now we will make sure to eat all this before buying more. I went a little overboard apparently.
We also have frozen fruit/veggies to use up. So the plan is to make meals using up what we have.

Think tomorrow I will organize the upright freezer a bit and plan a meal from something odd that needs to be used up.

Lots of things that need to be done around the house. I wrote out DS a chore list to complete today.

We put our air on last night too ,i just find this heat too much .

Tomorrow is my 1st back in the office since March 13 2020. Just finding my briefcase was work and then all the stuff I need to take for one day. Ugh. It’s so much work. At this point I am hopeful it’s a once a month. But I already have a client meeting in another city in June so apparently things are returning to pre Covid. Retirement cannot come soon enough.

Actually I just noticed that I forgot to post Sunday haha.
But it was a very productive chores day!!! :) Pretty happy with the progress!!! :)
Beds are changed and washed ,dishes are done and put in their place,grocery was done,garbages,compost and recycles have been put away in the proper outside bins
Oh and a thing I wanted to do since a long time is done...I decluterred the kitchen counters and the kitchen,so much better and neat!!! :) Very proud and time well invested :)
Now to beggin to search deals for cellphone and stove for the summer....

This week end I hope to do a fridge cleaning and when I will time sorting and check what coupons I have that are still good and cleaning of papers.
