Sony, Pioneer, Toshiba among optical disc drive makers settling $29.7M Canadian class action lawsuit that accuses them of vast price fixing on optical disc drives, including computers, game consoles, as well as CD and DVD players, sold between 2004 and 2010.

    .
Even WITHOUT a receipt, you can file a claim and receive a $20 return on this suit.

If you HAVE receipts, you MAY be entitled to more if you file a "documented claim" and can show proof of purchases. The payout in these types of filings will depend on certain variables that are detailed in the claims site below.

The link to file your claim: (link also contained in the above CBC article as well)

For anyone interested in the status of this... I just got a confirmation email from the "Claims Administrator" that my payment will be issued shortly.

Interac e-transfer will be issued to the matching email address. Here's the context of the email:

Your $20.00 Undocumented Claim in the Canadian Optical Disc Drives class action is approved. This is an advance notification that your payment will be issued via Interac e-Transfer very shortly. The Sender of the Interac e-Transfer will be either: (1) Optical Disc Drives Settlement, or (2) Computershare Trust Company. If you do not have auto deposit set up with your financial institution, you will require a security answer to complete the Interac e-Transfer transaction.

As a reminder, your security answer is: [REDACTED for post]

Please see www.oddclassaction.com for more information.

    Sincerely,
    RicePoint Administration Inc.
    Claims Administrator

It was post scripted with a link to change the email address if required, which I presume is a customized link for each recipient.

EDIT: I received my e-Transfer deposit the next day.
