I actually asked them this question back in November 2009 when they stopped announcing Insiders of the Day and started the Mike Flash code, and this was the response I received:

Thanks for your note and for your feedback.
We no longer publish winner names for a variety of reasons, but one of
them being out of concern for the privacy of our winners. In the past,
when we did actively promote listener's names, often they would ask us
to their name down because they were concerned for their privacy. We
actually ran into an instance on one of our sister stations where an
individual was obviously attempting to gain access to the winner's cash
prize. While legally we can put the names up, it's a bit of a grey area
and should one of our winners come under harm or have their privacy
violated because we displayed their name somewhere, we could be liable
in some way.
If you're worried you're a winner and don't know it, we always contact
our winners by phone and/or e-mail to verify your information. We need
to talk to all our winners first so we can have the cheques drawn up
accurately.
With regards to the weekly prize, it is drawn out of all the individuals
who entered the codes daily, not just the winners of the daily prizes.

seems it would be easier for them to find a work-around, like first name and first initial or something. on the other hand, i guess there aren't many people who send in a request for the winner's list with a SASE.

oh well. we'll see what they say to kawam. maybe something will change :shrug:
