Opened Today
@tjthemanto I miss you posting your timeline each year :) I just netfiled today and looking forward to the refund
UPDATE: I wrote to GenuTax for assistance and they replied within a couple of hours. They provided clear instructions. So here's my timeline for this year:
- netfiled Mar 3 (sunday)
- express NOA received (or available in CRA account) on Mar 6
- date of express NOA Mar 14 - also date of direct deposit
does anyone here know how long before the NOA or express NOA to show up in their CRA account?
I used netfile and I got a notification for express NOA immediately after I clicked netfile using GenuTax, however, I failed to click the button to open and view the express NOA. The option to view the express NOA from GenuTax program is "gone" and I couldn't figure out how to view it.
I checked my CRA account and it says "in progress" for 2023, the progress tracker says "2023 Initial Assessment progess" received Mar 3, 2023.
here's my timeline from last year:
Netfiled April 15, 2023 (saturday)
Direct deposit received April 21, 2023 (friday)
Bank statement showed deposit April 24, 2023
NOA notice of assessment and express NOA showed the date April 24, 2023
done filing for the 3 of us for another year! woo hoo. DH and I came out ahead, what a surprise.
Reminder if you owe $ to the CRA on your tax return, make sure to file and get a postal cancellation stamp from your post office no later than April 30. Also attach the payment or what portion you can pay.
If you want that Canada Carbon Rebate (April-SK excluded for now) or other tax credits, you have to file income tax returns for yourself and claim any dependants under age 19. Ditto any partner/spouse-file your tax return.
I managed to get my code yesterday to see my CRA account. My tax return is not yet Received. Guess it'll truly be a 6-8 week wait for the CCR after my return does get assessed. I may not be able to spend the darn money, as my body is not doing so well now, and I doubt I will be running around in June.
Should be looking into doing a will just in case. I have a $30 cheque (not CRA related) expected in June and that needs to be cashed by me (or POA if I'm still around but not getting out or my estate if I pass away). Still keeping my bank account because life is easier with it. Yes, I have been thinking of closing it but all I need to do is think about the year without my prior account...pricey with prepaid VISA cards!
Got email notices one week ago late at night that my tax return was received, then it was in progress.
Decided to check CRA My Account-the notice of assessment date is for May 28. I expect to see the paper by next Friday in the mail.
CCR payment date is listed as June 14 for that $140 amount. At least it's not in July (that is CCR pymt #2 date).:yield:
I used the CRA calculator to get an idea of any increases to tax credits for July. Seems GST quarterly payments will be $85 per quarter (up about $4.75 from last tax year). Monthly OTB is showing at $30 per month but that would mean $340 total, about $5 less than last year. CCR is still $140 for single person in Ontario.
Will try going into My Account to see if an update on pending July tax credits is showing.
If you see July tax credits in your account, let me know. I have to do this when no one is likely to use the phone so I can get the call before it goes to voicemail and I lose part of the code after 2nd repeat.
@Ciel21 My July GST credit is showing. Wasn't there on Monday June 10 so it was added recently. OTB comes 5 days later so maybe it will show next week. I'll watch for it and let you know.

July OTB posted today.
Sorry to be piggybacking off of this old CRA thread BUT I received an update about how the CRA has " improved "
their site. Hmmmm, we'll be the judge of that once filing starts....ha ha
Update:
I filed 3 returns this morning " successfully ". I never really know for sure if I'm doing it right.
Refunds will be on the way soon!
Does anyone know approximately how long after the netfile is done that cra would update the status in the progress tracker to "completed"?
I did netfile at 1205am on Monday March 16.
Checked my cra account and the status changed from "received" to "in progress" on March 19. Today, March 20 and it's still in progress. I'm getting nervous.
This is the first year I noticed this status.
Previous years, I got the express NOA within minutes of netfile.
I just filed today and return was accessed right away with NOA date of April 14, not suck in progress. I've read some people on Reddit say their returns are stuck in progress. Hard to say who gets stuck. Calling CRA doesn't seem to help, they were just told to wait. Doubt people answering the phones know much more than we do.
