You are so right about this-- life is short.
My first real summer job, factory work, shift work, I bought myself Levi's overalls. They were expensive. But I was in style for "back to high school"
I see Old Navy is asking $74 for some overalls
https://oldnavy.gapcanada.ca/browse/...p-page-content
I waited until October to get the overalls, when they were reduced to $29.99

We are now on vacation for the next two weeks, my younger son arrives tomorrow for 8 days. It was another busy weekend of house prep for my brothers wedding next weekend.
On Thursday I had to go to a client meeting about 2 hours away and on the way back the only road I know to get home was blocked so I trusted my sense of direction and headed on some dirt roads and with a 20 minute detour found my way around it, I never got lost once so I was pretty excited about that. It is an adjustment after a lifetime in Ontario where there are just so many more roadsFriends don't let real friends pay full price.

My brother got engaged this spring and is getting married in just over a month. His bride picked colours for all the guests to wear, which unfortunately we do not own. I’m having a hard time buying the necessary clothing in our community. I’ll have to do a road trip in hopes of buying the other necessary dress clothes. Twin boy is the ring bearer…they aren’t renting suits, so we need to buy his clothes too.
We had some good luck at a free local event at the end of July. We won a $25gc to McDonalds and a $100 pre-paid MasterCard. The event had free bbq, Icecream truck, face painting, and bouncy castles. I used the $100 towards back to school supplies.
We went to an event this afternoon. Twin girl won a bingo prize, this electric mixer. I tied for the grand prize at black out bingo and won $100 Walmart gift card. $250 in free prizes and a catered lunch. Wow was it ever worth it! I’m giving our kids each $20 for their part of the $100 prize. Two asked for it to be put into their savings accounts, one asked for the $20 cash. Everyone is happy with the arrangement.

@cath007 it is good to know someone else outside of your family is visiting your brother's gravesite. I do not know how many people consider such visits or cultivate practice to visit at least once per year. I am aware friends who were close to deceased South Korean celebrities visit graves but sometimes at night to avoid public attention.
It helps family to know that others visit as that means the memories/people are still important. I have been meaning to visit a city cemetery myself to visit a few graves but the summer has been hot.
Thanks for sharing your touching observations (hugs).

Last week of August brings knowledge that CNE ends soon and "fall" bus schedules will take effect in 5 days' time.
Put mini waffle maker to use on Friday for banana bread waffles and most of dozen waffles were good. Realized how many baking ingredients need purchasing while preparing batter. Used a shaker cup of 600ml+ capacity to pour batter onto the maker. Glad I used a silicone trivet under maker as I had two batter spillovers. Cleanup was easy.
Have to do grocery visit within hour as day will be 30+C today. Have run out of freeze pops and close to having consumed the sparkling water. For some reason I have been getting 3-4 hot flashes each day this weekend.Recent neuroscientist video indicates hot flashes are a brain symptom not menopausal symptom.
Is my brain disliking freeze pops?

Good Morning Everyone,
UGH, nothing worse than going into a new week on a bad night of sleep. I could not fall asleep or stay asleep last night which always makes the mornings a little more difficult but this is a get it all done type of week and I need to focus.
I did not get much done yesterday which is okay (maybe I am trying to convince myself, I feel like there are 500 things to get done but I am also just feeling so done). I spent most of the morning watching True Crime shows and in the afternoon I logged into work and tried to organize my life a little bit. I wrote a to-do list, cleaned up some of my emails, and followed up on a few emails.
Dinner last night was a Chicken Ceasar Wrap for me, Mom ate Lunch around 3 and was not hungry so I just went with something simple. I threw a couple Chicken Strips and some fries in the Air Fryer and made a wrap with Lettuce and Cucumber. After dinner I really wanted something sweet so I made a Cheesecake and Blueberry wrap also in the air fryer. Those Silicone liners are the best things I ever bought.
Tonight's dinner, not sure yet, will see how Mom's day goes. I know Mom wants Ribs but since they aren't my favourite I am not sure how to cook them, I could look it up but I also know Mom would want them the way she makes them. I think I asked for the recipe and she said there isn't one. We will see how the day goes. We have tons of other options so we shall see.
I currently have laundry going, my plan is to get the regular laundry done today and bedding done tomorrow, we shall see.
Happy Monday Everyone.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

Shopping done by 8:30 am. Did not bring a water bottle but had sparkling water before 6am as I was awake. Am fighting sleep at the moment.
Have chicken strips to heat up well after6:30 pm. Poured lemon juice concentrate into ice cube tray for future drink use. Bought radishes to make the carrot and radish salad-feel it is time to use mini food processors disc. Would like to attempt simple cake tonight but kitchen time might be tough since I requested Mom put off cooking right now due to heat. Morning might be best if I get up early again.
Want to see some things tossed out for collection tomorrow ...always a battle. Sibling did get our extra trash tags recently. City cut vegetation last Thursday and I'm thrilled not to bop and rumble with branches and vines on the bridge.
The 7 day calendar page is great for listing temps and precipitation forecasts. Right now, I list completed tasks done in a day. I would like to shift to goals for week and get them done over the week. Baking is one such thing as I never really like baking on Thanksgiving weekend so stretch goal is to start making biscuits or treats for nighttime or cold days to get a routine going now. Creature of habit especially easier habits...
Have an inspiring afternoon! Maybe lakeside coleslaw will appear in near future.

I realized that I did not post in July.
Our kids each passed two levels in swimming lessons this summer. We will apply the lifeguard’s feedback and help them practice the skills that they found more challenging. They also need to improve their swimming endurance.
We adopted a new cat from our local Humane Society. They had an adoption sale on, so we saved $50 off his adoption price. We think he was about 10 months old when we adopted him. Twin girl gave him this doll bench that he fits on. I’ve attached a picture, if you’d like to meet “Dice”.

Basmati rice rep @HermanH because that is a tasty grain to have cooked ahead and have to eat as needed.

Haus mini food processor observations: chute clogs during shredding and rubbery carrots can jam in the feed tube. When I was slicing radishes, slices bound between metal disc and spindle plate. When I realizedcthe feed tube needs 3/4" diameter or less foodstuffs, I thought how the prep of radushes for tube is half the work and manually slicing and julienning the radishes would be faster and involve less dishwashing.
Upside: shredding disk produces short fine shred like that in KFC's coleslaw, about an inch long that is very narrow.
Have still to try paddle attachment. Waffle batter but only a little at a time as booklet indicates one cup limit for liquids.
Should have saved more money for a 4cup food processor with brand name at Canadian Tire. Lots of bean dip spread will be on the menu.
Baking put off for tomorrow and I still went ahead to heat the chicken strips for dinner. Must own the kitchen in the morning.
Searching for yard waste bag deals as my stock is very low.
Have sweet dreams, everyone!

Good Morning Everyone,
Was up early and started my day at 5:30 and trying to get all the things done.
Yesterday was not my best day, I started out strong I was getting all the things and then I started to get a headache that was threatening to take me down, I seriously considered emailing my boss I was going down sick because I could barely look at my laptop but it dulled and I could push on. Then I got some emails that had me in all of the feels and not the good ones.
I was going to go to Costco after work so it was done and I did not have to think about it but with my headache afternoon, nope.
Dinner was instant pot alfredo with chicken, mushrooms and broccoli and cheesy garlic naan. I did manage to clean the kitchen after dinner so that is a win.
This morning, I am working on all of the work things, I have my bedding in the washer and I ran the dishwasher because I did not run it last night. Hoping Mom doesn't sleep too late today so I can get her bedding done before my appointment this afternoon.
Also need to figure out dinner for tonight. Don't really have any cravings so we shall see.

It's always interesting how stores reduce their items. Walmart.ca reduced their Garnier Micellar Water to $14.97 for 700 ml. Costco in warehouse price for 2x700 ml is $14.97. It's like Costco is giving you one and you can get one for a friend
