    Good Evening Everyone,
Today was a struggle, I was really struggling to focus and even though I slept I am not feeling my best. I find it so hard because everyone is like your done your meds your better right? No, no I am not I am still having coughing fits, I am still exhausted and today I feel like the brain fog is back. But we are pushing forward.

I went and got jabbed in the arm and got our prescriptions and then on the way home I grabbed groceries, not a lot of deals to be had but grabbed with we needed:
    Raspberries (PM Freshco)
    Green Onions (PM Freshco)
    Sour Cream
    Heavy Whipping Cream
    Bananas
    Garlic
    Lemons

I also grabbed a vanilla yogurt for Mom, it wasn't on sale but she does not like the Greek Yogurt I buy at Costco so that is her treat. I also grabbed some Chicken Tenders, I had planned to stop buying them but at this point still being sick and going into the Holiday season I just need something that will get dinner on the table.

Right now I am so happy to have our Pantry and Freezers because without them our grocery bill would be insane because the sales just are not there right now.

Hoping this weekend I can get back into my routines a bit and get some prepping done for next week to help with dinners next week.

So, our prime mister is giving us a Festivus Miracle.
$250 for Canadians who worked last year.
GST holiday from Dec. 14 until Valentine's day. On certain things.

So, with the $200 Douggie dollars, will that solve your money problems my fellow frugal SmartCanuckers?

I know the GST break sounds appealing BUT....real healthy fresh foods are not taxed in the first place so the break on groceries is for the processed crap.
None of us need any of that stuff in the first place so telling Canadians that they are " so lucky " to be able to buy it for 2 months without paying tax on it
is silly. Oh and alcohol, yeah THAT is very important....NOT!
Personally I am unimpressed, but that's just me.

@walkonby I am in agreement with everything you said . We should not have tax on gas and electricity which make more sense to me

Yup. He shoulda given us coupons for free fresh fruit and vegetables. That would have been better IMHO.

Had one of my 85-yr old neighbours over for some dinner. He's very thin; only 110 pounds. I asked him what he ate daily. He told me that he eats oats with powdered milk and lots of beans. I asked if he ate many fruits or vegetables, but he said that he only took a daily multi-vitamin. It turns out that his refrigerator died awhile back and he hasn't replaced it. That's why he sticks to powdered milk, oats, and beans. He cooks small batches and eats them within a few days. I told him that I was aghast and worried that he might catch a food-borne illness, since his food was basically sitting at room temperature and in the 'danger zone' for bacterial growth. I sent him home with an old restaurant display cooler I had that was sitting in my basement for over 20 years. It isn't much, but should at least let him chill a few things to eat safely.
My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.

I had a new great niece born last night. It sounds like the midwives didn't make it in time to the home birth so my nephew caught her. Welcome to our family Evelina.

That breaks my heart @HermanH . What a wonderful thing you did for him and I’m sure he was very appreciative and didn’t think “it wasn’t much” . It was probably a huge deal. Thank you for looking out for him.

Herman, thank-you for looking out for others.
Things are still not sorted out in my life but eventually it will work out and it will be good thing.
I thought about beginning to decorate for Christmas but decided a book on the couch was a better idea. I did make my 1st batch of squares.

I was walking home and ran across a sale sign in front of Safeway. It said, "grapes $3/lb and 5lb lean beef for $5"

Whoa, $1/lb of beef? Those are pandemic lockdown prices. So, I walked in and checked. It turns out that the staff forgot to put the $5/lb delimiter on the sign. I tracked down the manager and asked them to honour their mistake. There was only one 5lb-tube left, so he let me have it for $5. He shoots, he scoooooores.

I agree. I'm not eligible for the $250 and am annoyed at what is tax free. Would have made more sense to apply to household bills.

@HermanH does he have family? A fridge is a necessity. Perhaps you can contact a social service agency in your area to look into this further. No one should be in that state.

@HermanH I also frequently find incorrect signs at grocery stores, and love getting the item for free. SCOP standard code of practice. This works if the signs are not digitalized.
