Happy Friday! Mild and windy! The good news is that the snow is melting off the roof!
If we didn't have this break we would have had to consider paying someone for the first time to clear the snow from the roof since we got a lot and fast.
May also be able to go visit family this weekend. Will have to look at the weather app later today and make a plan.
I have an errand to do for work so will pop into No Frills across the road and see if there are any deals to be had. I'm not in a shopping/cooking mood lol.
Tonight may be fish and chips (I bought fish yesterday! way cheaper then take out and nice to have on hand) to make it an easy cheat meal but made at home. I will use the potatoes from the flash food box and make fries! Yum!
Enjoy the day and have a great weekend!

I now need a dinner plan for tonight, maybe something easy like pasta. We always take my FIL to the legion on Fridays but he was exposed to Covid so is staying close to home. He is fine and his residence has it under control but at his age it’s always a worry.
We are doing well at the pantry challenge. Today’s groceries are only produce and maybe some ground beef to make a batch of meatballs. I may ask DH to come along as his PCO has 300.00 on it and I locked it down so only his MC can redeem and can’t be bothered to unlock it.

I posted 2 small brags in the brag section if you are interested. :)

good afternoon all! TGIF for sure. Nice savings for you @cath007 ( in the brag section ). We have to take advantage any time the things
we like are reduced OR FREE!
That was why I went out yet again today. Yesterday I only had enough " get up and go " to hit 3 stores, so this morning it was off to FB
to get my Greek Skyr yogurt, DS his SPAM ( grabbed 8 cans, @$2.98 that is the lowest I've seen so far ) , fresh garlic ( product of Spain ),
2 x tubs of Sticko wafer cookies!! ( on sale for $1.79 ea. ) savings on receipt read $5.20 just for those cookies!
Mushrooms, green beans, celery and blackberries made up the produce. Oh, and FB always has THE best price for DH's Raisin Bran muffins,
6 for $4.94 this week, while all the other stores have the nerve to charge between $5.50 and $7.00
The sun was out in full force when I returned so pulling into the driveway I decided to tear down ALL the outside Christmas decor.
It was 12:30 then.
Unplugged all that needed to be unplugged, however the 2 smallish inflatables will need to dry out ( soaked from rain ).
The front windowsill small stuff ALL fit inside the box ( with a great tight hinged lid ) I keep on the deck for storing bags of salt and window wash in.
The extension cords, folded up a plastic Xmas tablecloth and the special rope light also fit in there.
It was now time to tackle ALL those garland boughs I had run along the entire length of the fence. ( so many pinecones and holly berries attached ).
I had brilliantly ( NOT! ) wound the 3 long strings of mini lights into through these boughs, at which point I had to find my patience.
When I finally got back in the house to put away the groceries the clock read 2 p.m.
That counts as a 1 & 1/2 workout! ha ha I'll be relaxing until tomorrow now.

Change of plans! My niece has a volleyball tournament in Thornhill in the morning and the weather looked fine for travel so made that the plan.
Then decided to book a hotel room 20 mins from the tournament (for free - had a few rooms that expire end of Jan so use it or lose it- And now I don't have to get up and stress the drive in the morning when it may be black ice after a night of rain and then cold morning temps) so drove down this afternoon and am here now. My sister and niece fly into Pearson tonight and have a room too.
The wind! Honestly I don't every recall driving in such strong wind. I am so happy to be here!

@Frugalbigmama
the wind! You said it. Once I had been inside for a while my guys headed out around 4 p.m. and DS comes back in claiming the wind is
out of control, blowing anything not tied down off the lawn. Our 2 extra large cardboard/glass recycle bins had to be flipped around so the lids would stop
flying open. SO GLAD I had tore down the Xmas decor earlier.
Funny side note: my 2 inflatables ( Olaf and a Doggy ) are hilariously blown up in the living room drying out.
Batten down the hatches folks, it's gonna be a windy long night!

Just saw online all around people have no hydro due to fallen trees, looks like I got back just in time.
Again just to be safe charging all my devices just incase.
Decided to go to Costco today even though I did not want too. I knew I could go tomorrow before the snow comes but, this is me and if I go to Costco tomorrow that is all I will get done. By the time I go, shop, haul it in and put it away I will probably need to eat and that will be the end. That will be my accomplishment for the day. So now, I have nowhere to be tomorrow.
I was shocked one of the main reasons I was going is we needed more parm and they were completely out even the worker helping another woman looking for it couldn't be believe it. So will probably have to try to go back next week but at least it will be a small shop.
Well I was there I grabbed:
Mushrooms (normally I do not buy these at Costco as the naturally imperfect are $1 cheaper but I don't know lately they have not been lasting)
Milk (No Frills has this on sale but my store has none so grabbed it at Costco)
2 x Old Cheddar (on sale)
2 x Chicken Breast (on sale)
1 x Chicago Mix (on sale)
1 x Apple Turnovers (on sale)
2 x Pita Chips (on sale, just have to make sure Mom does not eat these as they are cooked in coconut oil, she will have to eat the other ones)
1 x Glucosamine (on sale)
1 x Naan
1 x Hydrasense 2-pack
1 x Pantene Shampoo & Conditioner (on sale)
1 x Pads for Mom
Most of what I bought was on sale but till spent more than I expected but that was the Chicken Breasts which I did not think would be on sale as they were just on sale for Boxing Day. I did see someone post about them being on sale but they said it was only Markham because they were overstocked and I wasn't going to Markham. Plus the pads for Mom, I have been watching for a sale but those seem to be fewer and far between now but still the Costco pack vs anywhere else is a steal.
Dinner was Butter Chicken with Broccoli, kept it simple.
Now it is time to relax and watch the Masked Singer.

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Tha plan for today was to clean the freezers but as soon as I woke up, I knew that was not going to happen. It felt like my lower back and hips were in a vice. Decided best to try not to push it because one it is all out of the freezer you can't stop.
I decided to tackle the Kitchen instead, does it need a good deep clean (steamer, cabinets and all) but today focus was getting back to our baseline. The cart from the hallway was still living in the kitchen because my bedframe is still in the hallway (also not building this today). So Instead I was able to empty it and move it to the basement and put away all the stuff that was living on the floor and counters because I couldn't get into the pantry.
I still need to do the floor and finish the top of the stairs but I am happy with what I got done.
Decided to make Beef Stew for dinner so I pulled Beef Chunks and Garden Cocktail from the freezer. I have it simmer on the stove and soon I will add potatoes and carrots. I also made a small batch French loaf to go with it which is cooling on a rack right now.
Working on updating my budget, I added it to my weekly tracker to make sure I stay on top of it this year. Being a saver I almost always tend to be under budget, that is not the concern but I dislike constantly playing catch up.
I need to write a meal plan for the week. We did well the start of last week but then kind of fell off. I think this week I need to add in some meals I can pre prep and have ready for "those" nights.
I tried to work on my meal plan earlier today but it did not go well because every meal I thought of was beef and we only eat beef once or twice a week so I would be setting us up for failure right off the hope.
Once I have a meal plan, I can plan a prep list for tomorrow.
Happy Saturday Everyone.

Good day!
Just returned home from running around. Picked up groceries with a good plan for meals this week.
The tacos I made last week were amazing and since I have avocados and limes still to use I decided that it was a good idea to repeat that tonight!
(no one in my family would ever say they don't want tacos! Fam fav!)
I now love the hard taco shells so I grabbed 2 boxes and will try and do the promo for the $10 Grocery card.
Flashfood- I just looked at my app and found Cottage cheese for .70 cents! (Jan 13th expiry) I bought all 4. Will use one the next few days and the other 2 will go in the freezer for a pasta dish I use them for. ( a lazy pasta bake) and the last one I will make the pasta bake for DS tomorrow.
Also found a large Greek yogurt for $1. I am going to pick up sugar free jello mix and try making that high protein dessert today!
They appear to be adding stuff right now so I will keep refreshing it before I go to pick up.
Hope you are having a great Sunday!

Good Evening Everyone,
I am trying to slowly get this house back to the baseline but the key word is slowly.
I still feel like I am about 85% better, I am still coughing a bit and I find certain things still make me out of breathe (going out in the cold, that wind today got me and multiple trips up and down the stairs). So I do still find myself sitting down more and needing a minute. I got a lot of sleep last night and do feel a bit better so we will see, I just want to for once get a cold and not end up at the doctor, just one. Although now I think Mom needs to see the doc, we will see how she is tomorrow.
I scrubbed down the bathroom, again, does it need a deep clean with the steamer yes, but we are all about just getting back to the baseline then we will work on the deep cleaning. The bathroom is done except for the floor, I got it wet rinsing the shower.
Mom decided she was going to make Pizza Sauce and BBQ Sauce, since she has to sit on her stool she needs help when she cooks so I was in the kitchen helping her but I also cleaned out the fridge, put some random things away and took out the garbage. Also had another bag I filled and took with me, better out than living in my house.
They finally got our recycling emptied, we are having issues they say because we do not have driveways we do not qualify for the new recycling program, management is working on it. Although they dropped off 6 new bins today and as soon as I saw those out I went because my recycling was overflowing and taking over. Happy to have the out as it kept falling out of the bin plus I had 4 piles on the floor. We will see how this goes.
I was going to do the bathroom floor before I showered but since I had dough in the bread machine, I did not have time. Will have to tackle all the floors this week.
Dinner is homemade pizza, Mom has been craving it all week but we did not have any sauce.
I have a partial meal plan done, would like to add two or three more options just to be safe but we have some ideas.
Happy Sunday Everyone.
