I need some input please. I've started making handmade natural soap as a hobby and i'm looking into offering them for sale. What i'm asking myself is if you're interested in paying a bit more for a hancrafted natural soap, do you prefer it to be scented with natural essential oils(although it makes the choice of scents limited) or do you prefer the more varied array of synthetic fragrances??
Any input is welcome, thanks in advance

very timely post and I wish you lots of success in this endeavour. I was at the EX this week and purchased handmade soap and I queried the person about this very topic.
I LOVE soap ( I'm a "LUSH- a holic), but I was impressed with the scents and ingredients list.
There are defnietly more scents available if you go artificial. Personally, I buy both. When I purchase for my daughter or people I know that may have skin allergies, I only buy natural essential oils.
I usually buy a lot of things by scent. If I smell something that makes me 'feel good', I will buy it -- scent wins out over ingredient for me usually, and I DO have allergies

I think that if you can offer a mixture you would be safe. Only offering one will possbily alienate another purchasing group.
    good luck!

Thanks for the input! I'm pretty much the same way when i buy for myself, although i find Lush products a bit overpowering in scent. Whenever possible i think i will try to stick to essential oils but i would like to offer more variety, maybe do two separate lines : 100% natural and 98% natural with fragrance. How would that sound?

I personally would buy the natural with essentials oils. That being it would also depend on the sharpness of the "fake" scent as well, I don't like overpowering smells as my throat becomes quite closed off.
Good luck with your new hobby

I love natural scents and lavender is one of my favorites

Giving people an option would probably be a good choice.

Wishing you lots of successes with this

I'd probably go with artificial...I have allergies (bad hayfever) and 'real' scents seem to trigger it...all this time i was drinking chamomile tea and it is BAD for people with allergies..stupid me but i agree with the others, options are good!

I love natural, just because I find the scent is more subtle, and lasts longer...my favorite natural soap is vanilla oatmeal soap...so nice..
