Last week at work a client of ours gave us a gift--every employee received a mini box of premium-quality chocolate. Woo Hoo! Being a bona fide chocoholic, of course I was thrilled!
When we opened our boxes, we found nine little squares of chocolate with little crystal granules on top. I thought at first the granules were sugar, but bit into it to discover it was actually salt.
OK, I know that to some people this might be the ideal combination. A lot of people like that sensation of sweet and salty mixed together. That's why chocolate-covered pretzels are so popular. Me? Not lovin' it so much.
Of course the chocolates themselves were divine once I scraped all the salt off. But it begs the question--does anyone out there like this combination? Or what about some of the other bizarre chocolate combinations that are becoming increasingly popular (chocolate and chipotle pepper, chocolate and wasabi etc.)? What flavour combination do you like with your chocolate?
As for myself, I prefer the simple combination of chocolate with chocolate. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.This thread is currently associated with: N/A

Ugh! Never heard of salt on chocolate but no, i wouldn't like that either. I'm surprised everyone got that as a gift, i mean, nowadays some people are very concerned with their sodium intake but it's the thought that counts.
Me? I like plain milk chocolate like Lindt or Dove. Not into sweet & salty or chocolate with fruit or anything like that and dark chocolate hurts the roof of my mouth, like a raw feeling, not sure why.

http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/FreebieChick

I like milk chocolate and chips, preferably with salt and vinegar or dill pickle chips. I also like it with just regular chips and jalepeno chips.

Rogers Chocolates...thank you for mentioning one of my favourite stores ever. I used to live in Victoria and, in fact, worked, at a gift store not even a block away from the original store location on Government Street. And the wonderful aroma...I could gain 10 pounds just walking past there.
I still get nostalgic whenever I buy a Victoria Cream.

I am not to picky with my chocolate, I pretty much love it all...and I do like the chocolate and pretzel mix...yummmy.
I like sweet and salty together, for instance when pregnant I developed a taste for McDonalds fries dipped in their vanilla soft serve and still like now!!"To the world you may be one person, to one person you may be the world"

The chocolate with salt sounds fabulous. I prefer dark, 70 and above, but will eat milk chocolate if I have to ("have to" = in the house )
I think chocolate mixed with hot spicy things is a good combination. Didn't the Native South/Central Americans serve bitter chocolate with chile powder?
