Hey OB, sounds like you are/were in the midst of Canadian music heaven. I'm jealous.
Yup!!! Filberg Festival in Courtenay Comox. We're all worried though. Seems the music director, Bobbie Blue, and another board member got into a power struggle and they didn't renew Bobbie's contract. Bobbie for the last 10 years has made the Filberg a showcase for Canadian Folk (etc.) song writers. The crowds have gotten bigger and bigger because Bobbie gets a lot of these acts on favours. Michael Kaeshammer would normally cost way too much but he does it as a favour to Bobbie because she gave him his first ever paying gig. He announced to the crowd he won't be back next year.Performers were all thanking Bobbie and on Sunday apparently the board member reportedly ordered the Emcee to tell the acts "not" to thank her. He conveniently forgot for which I went over and thanked him for it. He also announced he wasn't coming back either.

The board member wants to turn it into a jazz festival.

    http://filbergfestival.com/the-festi...ment/schedule/

It's the best value for a festival anywhere. 4 days of top Canadian music for $40. If you take out a membership for $20 before June 13 you get in free.

If you ever get the chance to see these folks....go for it! You will enjoy some incredible talent.
    Looce,

I've seen Lunch at Allen's twice at the Filberg and once at the university here. The Filberg is better as the audience is virtually on top of the acts who all wander the grounds after. I'm a bit of a hard nose but I melt like butter when I hear Cindy Church sing "Never Been Kissed". I was drinking with her and Murray at the Atlas Restaurant last time and got to thank her personally. (Well, I was in the same restaurant but I did thank her! LOL!)

Couldn't find a video of it though. So this has to do:

Marc Jordon of Lunch At Allen's wrote this monster hit for James Taylor I recall.

Here's Marc singing it with Lunch At Allen's:

Unfortunately it's only a short clip.
