I am not recommending any certain drug to you but, I would recommend you look into some kind of anti-depressant if your back pain is chronic. I know that it is a hard thing to admit that our pain is making us depressed; no one wants to admit we are in a depressed mood. I would have thought that an anti-depressant would have been the first thing your GP would have recommended for your chronic pain management. Good luck, I hope you get your referral and that it doesn't take you too long to get into see a specialist. In the mean time I would suggest to your GP that she let you try an anti-depressant to see if it helps with your mood and maybe even your pain a little bit. It can't hurt right?
There is no shame in being depressed.

I haven't been on here for awhile because of issues with pain, medications, and priorities in life.
Unfortunately I'm still struggling with much pain, but God is faithful.
Take it one day at a time,or hour or minute if need be.

Hope everyone is well & as pain-free as possible.

I overdid it again (went out last night, but was smart enough to sit down & not dance all night). On the plus side, it was worth it to have a lovely evening out with several SCers. On the minus side, I seem to have developed a nasty bruise on my foot (I don't think anything is broken, but with my past - broken bones in my feet & having to spend 2 yrs re-learning to walk - I'm keeping a close eye on it). Life's always full of fun surprises, isn't it?

Glad to hear things are good at the moment. I have my good days and bad days as far as my mood goes too. When you live with chronic pain everyday, it does tend to effect your mood. It's hard to be happy and excited when your body is hurting . I just do the best I can to enjoy the days when my pain isn't so bad.

Some sites for those of you seeking alternatives. My DH reversed his diabetes with this lifestyle. Not for everyone but it is a thought.

Just wanted to add that the lifelong, since I had my knees operated at 15, chronic knee pain has really gotten better since switching to a plant based diet. Even my DH noticed I have less trouble going up slopes and stairs.

I am a believer in what we eat affects our bodies as well. I no longer eat dairy and wheat or gluten and have found that it has helped me a lot. I was hypothyroid before being in the car accident that caused all this chronic pain, if I was eating wheat\ gluten and dairy my thyroid levels wouldn't stay at an even keel and I couldn't lose weight, even on thyroid medication. Now that I am in pain everyday, I notice if I cheat and eat something with dairy and or gluten\wheat in it I am in much more pain the next day. My theory is, that these things cause more inflammation in my body therefore increasing the pain.

You are right about the inflammation this is exactly what they cause. I am glad it helps you.

So sorry to hear this. Have you applied to CPP disability? If your doc says you cannot work, then he/she could fill out these forms?
LF: Chapman's ice cream and Dare coupons. DS has a peanut allergy so it's the ONLY ones we buy. Lots FT.
