i love it when something like sugar is a good price. i know i will use it and it won't go bad. winter means alot of baking and mugs of hot tea. but here is my dilemna. i read today that meat has gone up 40 % in the past few years and sometimes these good deals go away and just don't show up anymore-or for a long time at least. my question is, how much is too much ? what do you all think ? what are your limits ? it is great to have a nice stockpile of basics, and i have the room, but where do you draw the line ? is 2 enough ? will i regret not getting just a couple more ?

Thanks! Some good prices on produce, eggs, pork, and sugar. I think I will get a box of clementines, although that'll mean that I have to officially acknowledge that winter is coming

I like to keep my pantry stocked and at that price for sugar I will get 2 to 4 bags as I bake alot.
Better to stock up when it's a good price than run out and have to pay full
    Price.

why is the frosting 1.47 and the cake mix 1.00?That sounds silly, lol. Maybe i will pick up the cake in hopes the frosting will be .50 cheaper in the next few weeks dd's bday is coming up and real cakes get expensive, lol.

Awsome sale on baking stuff though. Might get some sugar but trying to use less overall but holiday seasons almost here, so we'll see!!

When you homemake a lot of stuff, i see way less reason to stockpile, the larger flour lasts quite awhile! Somethings bound to go on sale by then!! I find I am running to the store WAY WAY less then when i bought prepackaged snacks/dinners etc. Seemed like I lived there is seriously. I just made homemade graham crackers and it is probably the first snack I made my dd loves.

I say stockpile if somethings free or super cheap like .50 or less and otherwise i refuse because MOST things go on sale within a couple months anyways. Unless it's a really rare thing.

I have a family of five and I picked up 6 of these when they went on sale for $1.77 somewhere else recently and may pick up more. It doesn't really go bad, at worst it gets clumpy over a long period of time if you don't keep it in a cool dry enough spot. I doubt you will regret buying more if it is within your budget, infact, I think you will thank yourself as prices climb.

Peanut Butter went on sale for $1.88kg right before the price of peanut better sky rocketed in the last year, I bought 4 at the sale price and am still kicking myself!! (my husband and oldest son could live off of peanut butter and got through these in a couple months) In hind sight I probably could have purchased a couple dozen.

    I say stock up!

    Cheers,

    Snip.

It takes time to know how much of something you use. I now know that we go through 1kg of crunchy peanut butter a week. A WEEK. If I paid full price it would be $8 down the drain on that alone. I have a modest stockpile of 10 since sales generally run every 3 months, but I also don't want to take anything too close to an expiry date. Sugar, we use frequently, but not to the same extent as peanut butter. I was able to bake normally, and we are now down to one bag. I'll probably get 4 of those. I think everyone misjudges their stockpile at first, but you get better and smarter.
