maybe ZoneAlarm? I'm not sure it will remove whats there, but it's pretty good at alerting you to the new threats

K thanks! :) I found a great one malawarebytes
Try googling AVG antivirus. There is a free download, but we buy ours online and download it online, we've done so for several years now. No problems at all, it catches everything. It's made real customers out of us.
i like avg the best.
I have Avast, came highly recommended, and free download for home use.
It is unbelievable, it updates itself a few times a day and twice while I was doing a search on the web and clicked to open a link, Avast popped in to say that a trojan was trying to download itself.
Did have AVG that a tech had downloaded for me 2 years ago , so out of the two I give a thumbs up to Avast
I use Ad-Aware and have been for a couple of years
The suggestion of ZoneAlarm is a good one, but you need to purchase ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite for it to work properly. Do not use any other antivirus programs with it. AdAware is safe to run with it though.
ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite uses the Kaspersky antivirus engine which is one of the best in the industry.
To properly scan for and remove spyware, turn off System Restore and start up your computer in Safe Mode by holding F8 at boot for XP and Vista.
If this does not work, just as your computer is booting up Windows, press the power button to turn off your computer. When you restart, you should get a text screen that says that the computer did not successfully boot last time and give you options.
Once in Safe Mode, run AdAware or ZoneAlarm.
For future security, consider using Firefox with the NoScript add-on. This will stop any scripts from running on webpages you visit which can trigger the installation of spyware.
