It's always those darn grapes! We eat them the day they are bought and forget about them the rest of the week. I think when we're rich one day (or the fridge dies, whichever comes first), I'd like to get one where the freezer is on the bottom. That way I can see everything and make sure it gets used up.
No meal plan yet, will work on that while catchin up on Walking Dead.

8 x 1L jars of deer meat with veggies just came out of the canner for the family to eat.
I now have the deer meat scraps in bottles in the canner as dog food for my old boy (14 year old golden retreiver) who I now have to buy canned food for.
So no meat was wasted and my jasper is going to be a happy old boy.
What a long day, it's worth the hard work but I am pooped to say the least.
I am looking for Artic Garden coupons if anyone has any up for trade, have a look at my tradelist and pm me if interested.
Thanks

Question of the day?
Does anyone supplement maple syrop as a baking ingredient?
I read that the maple syrop to sugar ratio is (white or brown) it says use 3/4 c. of maple syrup to 1 c. of brown or white sugar. Has anyone ever made this substitute?
The reason I am am asking is because I have lots of homemade maple syrup that I need to use up.
Also looking for baking recipes using maple syrup if you have any you wish to share!Last edited by jasperandchar; Fri, Mar 15th, 2013 at 04:41 PM.

I don't have any suggestions, but would like to know if you tap your own maple trees?
We are trying this for the first time.
We got too eager to try boiling what we got for sap the first two days and I boiled it too much and ended up with 1/2 cup of very sticky thick syrup. Do you know if I can add water to it and re-boil it?
Hopefully our next batch will turn out better.Trade List /Wishlist: http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/382792-dreamcatcher1962s-trade-wish-lists-canada/#post5928904

We do tap our own trees, I will have to ask dh about if you can add water to thin it out but he is gone out for the evening with friends from his CYW class.
I'll get back to you on this, I may do a google, I remember some friends of our having this happen and something about peanut butter????

If your syrup has crystallized, revive it by warming it with a little extra water or eat it as candy from the internet
http://www.wikihow.com/Celebrate-Nat...aple-Syrup-Day
this link says to reboil with sap

I cannot seem to find the peanut butter cure (lol). I will ask hubby when he get home and if too late will post in the am what he suggests, I think that would be really yummy on ice cream - your thick syrup!

I use maple syrup on bacon, sausages, pancakes and waffles but I googled this. Maybe you will find something interesting.

We do the same...
Everything tastes better with either maple syrup, Ketchup or VH sauces.
In our house these are a food group.
