Greeting dear readers. I am a new resident here in Sarnia, who has not been able to have a good start at making local friendships. A reason could be culture clash, as i espouse from a visible minority background here in Canada. Or, it could just be lack of sheer luck, even at my workplace. As such, i reckon for myself that another solution would be to pro-actively engage in the wider community. As an example, to actively engage in volunteering throughout the sarnia-lambton region. Nearby towns and villages would be great as well.

I am a professional Engineer in Training from the GTA, young male, and would love to know of possible volunteering opportunities in Sarnia-Lambton. I would like to give company to the elderly, and participate in family events promoting sports and all other good of society.

Any help of information from you the readers would be most gracious.

    Kind Regards
    Aaron

You could contact the Heart and Stroke Foundation. I help them out counting money from their various fundraisers. You might try going to the local hospital and ask if they need volunteers. Good luck getting to know people! You can always hang out here and find some good cyber friends!

Also, check your local volunteer web-site (most cities have them) for volunteer opportunities. I understand how difficult it can be to make new friends, but you're sure on the right track! And if your first volunteer position doesn't appeal to you don't be afraid to bow out and find another one...don't stop until you find a fit that works for you. And to echo Avon...stick around here...we're a pretty entertaining bunch!
