Id stick Expedia, heard stories about European rooms for rent in private homes. Not good ones

When we went to Rome, I used tripadvisor.com to find a place...the reviews are by real people (like me), and you can get a really good idea of what to expect!! It's our travelling bible, so to speak!! Enjoy your trip!!

If money is a factor, look for a hotel outside of the city. It'll save you tons.

We ended up booking a lovely B&B because we didn't want a hotel that could exist anywhere else in the world...like a cookie-cutter hotel. It was wonderful!! A lovely room, all the amenities, and a breakfast cart that I'd be proud to offer any visitor to our home!! Check them out, too...and of course, find and read the reviews on tripadvisor.com...

Oh. I should add...we still exchange Christmas emails with the owner of that B&B and it would be so incredible to see her again, as well as her house-keeper who served us so well. I really miss them!!!!
