Hi there,
I received this email last night from http://www.amylynn.org/home I
am copying the portion that concerns the new plugin Pinecone is
getting it's panel members to install for their new surveys.
Amylynn.org is a legit website, but I am wondering if any of you have
had to install this plugin yet? I received the email from Karen Scott
concerning the new installation, but have not had a new survey to do
yet.

Warning to Pinecone Research Members
I realize a lot of you may have already downloaded Pinecone Research's
plug in, I would recommend contacting them ASAP because you have been
infected with a Trojan. Here they are threatening their members with
lawsuits, and now they could be involved in a large suit themselves.

Karen Scott emails people with this:

You may be prompted to download AristiScope's CopySafe Web plug-in if
the test determines the new format is incompatible with your system.
Feel free to download the plug-in. This will be required for future
surveys and will avoid interruption to survey participation.

The Trojan was discovered with Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet
Security. Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security is the LEADING virus
protection money can buy, all virus scanners get their patterns from
Trend Micro. So please know this alert has been authenticated.

ArtistScope_IE_42.exe is the name of the program.

Possible_Movly-1 is the name of the trojan.

TSC_GENCLEAN is the name of the malware.

After it's been removed...

It still stores itself in the system restore, which means it keeps
being placed back on the hard drive. The only way to totally remove it
is, to right click my computer icon on your desktop click on system
restore, and turn off system restore (click apply), then turn it back on.

I installed that plug-in, I have Nod 32 and it's updated nightly, no virus on my computer....I installed it last week I think, so if there were a virus in it I'm sure PineCone would have sent an e-mail about it by now.

Same. F-Secure did not pick up anything, and neither did Hijack This. Still, I do wonder what the point of that plugin is; it's not that hard to get around it..

I downloaded this plugin also & my NIS has not detected anything. I have not been able to access my Pinecone homepage for about 5 days now. I cannot get the Canadian or US version of Pinecone to come up. Is their site down?

Did anybody hear from them? I fill out the form on april 20th and I didn't receive the "congrats" email. I wonder if I was rejected...
