Thanks for the heads up! Hopefully I won't run into the same issue since I am buying them directly from the vendor and not Safeway.
I can't imagine why sears/lids/old navy would have any hold back on gift cards bought from their website. That would suck!

If any of you care to this is up on the Airmiles website right now. I'm "assuming" you'll get a tax receipt.

I would hate to be in the banking business right now... they are talking about 127 structures that have to be bulldozed in calgary alone. Many houses didn't have the right kind of flood insurance for this event. In high river it is worse... people are out of work because of this... businesses had 4 feet of water down town so no work for staff.... and the staff have mortgages to pay on damaged homes. Calgary is taking in High River people and people from surrounding areas because we have places to put them.... just not in apartments... the vacancy rate here is .9% before the flood... the lowest in the country.... if they can find a place to rent it is $1350 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment..... average house cost $426 000 pre flood and it is expected to go up. Banks are going to take a hit from people who are displaced and can't work and can't afford to pay the mortgages.... many will just have to start over. I know 10K in Calgarians will be displaced for some time... but add in the surrounding areas and jobs will be hard to find plus places to live. It will be a mess for a while.

Who will make money?... discount places for dishes and such, Hardware stores like rona and home depot, used car lots and auctions where people's vehicles were destroyed, furniture companies, construction companies.... clothing stores and used clothing stores like salvation army and good will. Where there is a disaster there is loss... then a vacuum and a potential big gain.

It will be interesting to see what the government kicks in to help... all 3 top levels of government live here... i take that as a plus in this situation. The mayor of course lives here... as does the premier and the prime minister. We will see what happens next.

Think this is an unadvertised special. No prices given. 25AMs = $2.63

Have you tried the app ShopperLite? I use it faithfully. Just create whatever stores you want and then enter in whatever products you are buying, quantity and dollar amount. It keeps a running total for you. It even has built in 'notes' section (I use this to enter whether or not the item gives me air miles). It also has a 'coupon' section. When you add the coupon $ amount it automatically subtracts it from the purchase. Check it out! I've been using it since last fall and would not shop without it.

Well we decided to try buying gift cards too, since we always need clothes and Old Navy was one of the participating shops. We figure if we don't get the 25x AM and the 100 AM bonus, we're no further behind because we were going to be making a clothing purchase anyway. Fingers crossed, but not holding our breath....

Thank you Lesley73 for pointing out this potential deal on giftcards.

Copied and pasted from the "fine print" part of the AM website...had to know, just for sure.
Some organizations have asked to redeem points of various kinds for charitable donations, BUT no receipt was to be issued.

    Anyhow, no worries with AM's

So the gift cards seemed to have worked with the promo. 25x is in both of our accounts today. No 100 bonuses yet but it still bodes well. Very pleasantly surprised! The gift cards got here today - really quickly. Next time might try ordering gift card at the beginning of the promo, then ordering another gift card with the first gift card when it arrives... Maximize airmiles and minimize outlay. Or maybe you're not allowed to pay for a gift card with a gift card? Anyone know?
