Anything specific you are looking for in the laptop? What size screen? What would you be doing on it? i.e games, internet, movies and videos, etc...

I know Tigerdirect has tons lof laptops in that price range (beat you to it Scooter!)

I've got an older Toshiba myself and it's great. I bought the things back in 2002 or 2003 and, other than the fact it's outdated, it still works great. I'd definately recommend Toshiba to anyone looking for laptops.

I'd be happy to help, just give me a few more details.

My standard disclaimer -> I don't work in the computer/tech support field, I just bought and built a bunch of computers in my time so I've got some decent knowledge on them. My advice is purely personal and based on experiance so always ask for a second opinion

    For reliability go Toshiba!

It's under your price range, but this on caught my eye. Looks great in terms of portability and net access. A huge plus is that it runs on Windows XP and not Vista. I think Vista would just suck up a lot of a laptop's system resources...

Here's something a little more "supped up" with a larger screen. It also has an option for XP instead of Vista (hint hint):

Futureshop and bestbuy sites were down so I didn't scan those for any deals, sorry.

I helped a friend buy this laptop http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...C-0730_Laptop1

yesterday. I was able to get another 70 dollars off cuz i bought the 2 year plan and did the 12 month No pay thing. Overall its a pretty goog laptop. I set it up for him and removed all the junk software that comes preloaded on it. It came to 966 after tax...........not bad at all.......it came with a bunch of stuff too.
