That's how the paper towel / tissue / toilet paper from 2 weeks ago showed up! I haven't gotten a picture yet as I still have to pick up the last set, with my receipt. I was so busy last week I never made it there to buy a stockpile of cereal, boo!

Thanks, Vegas! Hopefully my kids have a good trip and competition, and we have a - nice, quiet, first ever in 17 years - weekend with no kids! LOL!!! That's almost as good as a trip!

The real beginnings of price wars are starting. We are in a golden age here. Walmart will now pm any competitor's ads across canada. For those of us our west it means a extra 20% lower cost on groceries. (check out dariusz8's post http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/370022-...update-canada/ )That is certainly another way to save money. Out east they get many items for free that we can't get as easily.

This is a game changer for us... Meat is considerably cheaper out east and so are things like veggies... they try to say it is shipping costs that gives us higher prices... scuse me... where exactly is the beef raised and processed? Anyway back on task... we will have to do more price matching and we will be able to increase our savings by a amazing amount. We all know WM allows us to price match a reasonable quantity of items too..... so... here we go with a amazing new tool in our hats.

I know Safeway has been putting out a standard flyer for the whole country lately... but the prices are about to be way out of line compared to what we will be able to get at WM.... Even with Airmiles taken into account they may not be able to stand up to these much lower costs.

I am loyal to my budget first... numbers don't lye.

Cheeky, I am the same way, which is why I had barely earned any airmiles this year. With two national level athletes, we go through a TON of food, and I have to shop where it is cheapest, which here usually means Superstore. If it hadn't been for this last promotion, I would not have kept my airmiles gold card this year. It will be interesting to see how eager my local Walmart is to this new policy, as often, prices are much cheaper in ON where there is more competition.

It will take time to get this new policy in full swing... but it will happen... I am sure some competitors will throw a few good sales just to trip them up too. I am going to just use my pc and have the pages pulled up and try a couple this week. Make sure you go directly to the companies site if you do this... sc is great but they may want to see the company's link in the search bar.

I shop similarly too and only go for the Airmiles if it's to my advantage, especially after Airmiles chopped the value from $0.139/AM to $0.105 and Safeway cut back on the number of AMs offered as bonuses.

Will point out Safeway has the 3 Day Special on this weekend with Pepsi 20 tins @ $3.99.

Target has 12 tins on sale for $5.99. Safeway rocks against Target on that one particular item!

The one thing I will regret is what happens to my favourite employees at Shelbourne! They've been terrific to me. It's a rental store so it might not reopen as a food store as Fairway & Thrifty's are on 2 corners opposite them. I'm hoping Fort & Foul Bay open as a RCSS as the closest one is 20 miles out of town.

Agreed! Not so eager to see Save-On move in. They have a few hot deals, but mostly you have to work (stack) to make it worth your while there. RCSS has better all round prices, and good promos too I have found.

Their prices on food are generally only a penny more than Costco, no membership needed, better selection and if they put in a Gas Bar!!!!!!!! Plus, no need to drive to Langford.

The pepsi is a great deal. 3.99 / 20 is .20 cents a can. That means it works out to the same as $2.40 for a 12 pack. That is what I would expect from a after coupon price. I happen to have no pepsi in the house atm so... I will be using my card and my parents card to purchase a total of 4 of them. One of the safeway stores has coupons on the back of the receipt for goodwill $5wub20 so the savings will go on.

    Price comparison:

    Pepsi 20 tin $3.99 = $0.20/tin

    Coke 12 tin, 3 for $10, B6G60 = $20 - 6.30AMs = $13.70 for 72 tins = $0.19/tin

Not much of a difference unless you use the AMs for flights in which case the Coke offer is better.
