ExpiredHere's a nice freebie from Random House -- get nine e-books (authors include Alan Furst, Julie Garwood, Charlie Huston, David Liss, Laurie Notaro, Arthur Phillips and Simon Rich) for free!
http://www.ereader.com/servlet/mw?t=...domhouse&si=59
There are no strings attached and the e-books include the full, unabridged text.
If you don't have eReader software for your phone or PDA, that can also be downloaded for free from the same site.
There's no word when the offer expires but they do say it's a "holiday" freebie so you might want to download sooner rather than later.

Thank you Has anyone else tried downloading any of these yet? I signed up and selected 5 free e-books, but 4 of them are saying I need to supply credit card information in order to get an unlock code to download them. I have no credit cards, so I e-mailed them about it....seems silly that I'd need to supply credit card info for a free offer.

yeah I don't know about this-I did it as well and it is asking for a credit card number which I will not give out so I may not get the ebooks. Plus has anyone tried opening the ones that don't require a credit card number? I have downloaded a couple things that the website said to download but nothing I try works and I can't open anything to read it and I am getting rather frustrated with this.

I got the following e-mail back in response to me asking why I needed to supply credit card info to download free books.
Hello,
We provide the free books primarily to allow our customers to test
eReader on their device. Major publishers require that their eBooks
be locked (encrypted) for each customer. In the same way the free
books are also encrypted to allow you to test this functionality
without you having to purchase a book. If we did not lock the free
books they would be useless for this purpose. eReader eBooks are
locked using the billing name and credit card number of the primary
credit card on your eReader.com or Fictionwise.com account.
NOTE: For security reasons eReader does not actually store your card
information in the eBook or on your device, rather it uses a one-way
"hash code" of the information, and it is impossible to recover your
information from this "hash code".
I hope this explains why we require a credit card on your account for
free ebooks.
Thank you,
shawn

Ah well, still a good freebie for those who have credit cards and don't mind supplying the info. I got one book that I downloaded, so it's still a good deal.<center><embed src="http://www.widdlytinks.com/myfamily/silhouettes/silhouettefamily.swf" flashvars="t1=The Bernard Family&pv1=0&pn1=6&px1=251.55&pf1=1&pv2=0&pn2=22&p x2=186.8&pf2=0&pv3=0&pn3=12&px3=305.85&pf3=1&pv4=1 &pn4=9&px4=278.8&pf4=0&pv5=1&pn5=3&px5=226.8&pf5=1 &pv6=0&pn6=1&px6=102.8&pf6=1&pv7=1&pn7=24&px7=317. 8&pf7=1" quality="high" wmode="transparent" name="My Family Silhouettes" allowscriptaccess="samedomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" align="middle" height="230" width="500">
