Something I discovered today - this is for Ontario residents - don't know about other provinces.
For those people who receive social assistance. Until you are 65, you get assistance with things such as dental care - eye care - prescription orthotics, etc. After 65 Old Age Pension kicks in and although you get drugs supplied - many drugs are not covered and non of the above described are covered. - (Political comment: Don't you think that it is at THAT time of your life that you actually NEED help with these things because it's at this time when they start to break down.)
So if you are approaching 65 and you need new glasses or dental work - you might think about getting these things seen to while you have some help paying for it.
People who have only public assistance to live on need every possible help they can get to make ends meet.
Use 1/3 to 1/2 the recommended amount of laundry soap.
Instead of frequent trips, plan lots of errands on errand day to save on gas or get my bus fare worth.
Prefer geared to income activities (even for adults in some cities), free activities (free skates, park concerts, libary activities, community centre activities), and the cheap movie theatres or pack a car full and go to the drive in (bringing own snacks).
Eat in, not out- you can even buy tim horton's coffee to make at home and their teas.
Bring a water bottle while out and find out where the nearest blue W locations are to where I'll be- blue w are businesses that will let you come in and fill your water bottle for free- libraries, municipal buildings, restaurants...
Great ideas everyone. I loved reading this one.
make your own things - I have done DIY conditioner and DIY deodorant so far. Doesn't have all the harmful chemicals in it either.
Tons of great ideas! Bumping! :)
Here is the recipe I used

I can't remember the amount but some blogs I found said to use beeswax if you want it to be harder and to use an old deodorant stick
Another really great way to save money on deodorant is to get one of those deodorant crystals that they sell in health food stores. It's a natural product that you just wet and apply. They work by killing bacteria that cause odor. I find that they work really well and they last for a really long time!
Been thinking of making my own diaper rash cream. I can't decide if it's going to save me money though, so I'm hesistant.
In my opinion online shopping is a good way to save money. Nowadays many people prefer online shopping. People can buy anything at anytime with great discount over the internet. Online shopping is the best idea to save lots of money and time also.
