Auctions always seem to offer opportunities to get a great deal, or to overpay for items if you're not careful. This year's e-Auction was no exception:

People overpaid for the Tassimo T20 coffee maker more than any other product, on average 255% of retail value (ie; they paid more than two and half times in airmiles what they could have paid using cash in the store)

The Tassimo T20 was also the single largest % overpaid item, at 451% (four and a half times what they could have paid using cash)

Closely following the Tassimo in terms of crazy-inducing, the GreenPan cookware set, Nostalgia popcorn maker, and the Apple iPad Mini all had people paying way more than the product is worth

The largest overpaid item in terms of dollar cost was the Apple MacBook Pro at $933 over retail value

There were still some great deals had, especially if you had enough airmiles to purchase the trips or other big ticket items like hottubs or bigscreen TVs, where people sometimes paid only 25-50c on the dollar (as much as 83% off retail in one case)

Some lower-ticket items like snowboards and rollerblades also were snapped up at good prices

The Group Buys were almost all excellent deals again this year, and almost all sold out very quickly

Congrats to everyone who got a good deal on something they wanted/needed, hope everyone had fun, and thanks to Safeway for putting on an excellent show! Hope to see you next year!

Deal alert - the Ninja is on sale at CdnTire for 39.99 right now. Strongly recommended by Consumer Reports, but more importantly by Opera Bob, who I trust implicitly when it comes to finding good value. I bought one today.

    e,

    LOL!

I just love watching it turn ice to dust!

Watch you don't cut your fingers on the blades when you first assemble it. Been there! Done that!

I would assume they are only following the other provinces (Ontario included) NOT to allow "perks" on prescriptions. Don't like it either, but don't think we can stop it.

I haven't had any airmiles from Safeway posted since the beginning of April. It always makes me nervous when they don't show up.

I haven't had airmiles added since April 1st. I should have some coming, but have slowed down my shops @ safeway because of the poor airmiles offers and higher prices.

Trust Cheeks and myself the Ninja is worth the extra cost. I went through about 4 blenders making smoothies because the blades wear out and it takes forever to crush the ice.
