I have lots of squirrels here and I 've found they do the most damage, lost 6 pole bean starters just because "it felt" like digging.... lost a lot of produce last year because they would take a bite of whatever was producing, even jalapenos ! This year, I've resorted to surrounding stuff with nylon netting... they could easily chew through it but hopefully it's not as tempting if it's not easily accessible. Kinda of a pita though to reach in and maintain stuff

I feel your pain. Two falls ago, when I planted my first bulbs, 24 hours after planting, a squirrel had dug up most of them. I caught him red-handed. I yelled and chased his across the yard like a crazy woman. I did have a few tulips and crocuses last spring that he left me, but not many.

    Yes I am serious.

I am not sure where to get it here but probably Le Baron on St. Laurent.

My bleeding heart is blooming, some phlox in the front yard, a dianthus and my forget me nots are blooming. I also found those d*** red lily beetles on my lillies. I am hoping to keep them somewhat under control now that I found them. At least they are easy to see, and finding the eggs are a bit harder, but I think i got them all...for now.
My veggy garden is doing great. Beans are up, cukes, carrots, beets, peas, lettuce, summer savory, dill. I planted tomato and pepper plants. Waiting on my zucchini in a side bed to sprout.
I also planted some pole beans all along my back fence. Will see how those do.
The most serious gardening I do would seem very strange to an onlooker, for it involves hours of walking round in circles, apparently doing nothing." --Helen Dillon

I purchased one container of wave petunias (two garden centres I visited were sold out of many plants), 1 dianthus, 1 mandevilla, 1 tomato and 2 basil. I plan on hitting Canadian Tire this weekend. Last year I bought wave petunias at Cdn Tire and they bloomed nicely. Marigold, Zinnias, geraniums, tomatoes, onions and herbs are added to my list.

Finally some real heat this weekend both days above 20 but dang the nights still below 10.

Here are a few things in bloom, I also am trying a few of those topsy turvey bags for the fun of it, 2 with cherry tomatoes and 2 with chili peppers in them.
