So I had to put a carton of Breyers ice cream in the fridge because freezer was all full, after 24 hours, this is how it looks like....sure not how normal melted ice cream would look. 20 years ago as a kid myself, we always get cheap ice cream from No Frills, the big 4 L buckets for $3 and after it melts will become a paddle of sweet cream that I drink off the bowl. I don't even know what you call these now.......

That's WEIRD!!!!
It looks like the blue carton? I get the black carton. I think Blue carton is "dairy dessert" (whatever that means) but the black carton is ice cream?
What are the ingreidents? Does it contain oils? that might be what is keeping it from melting?Apply every possible promo code to your cart, at every store that you visit (and get points for cash back on top of that?). It's sweet and easy with HONEY.

Yeah, what torontogal said--there don't seem to be that many true ice cream products anymore. So many of them are a "frozen dessert"--more of an ice milk than ice cream, with coconut oil or something like that.
EDIT: just a note that coconut oil is solid up to about 24 degrees. If it's got that in it, that could be why it's not a delicious soupy mess.Last edited by dizzyb; Tue, Jun 17th, 2014 at 07:18 PM.

So did you check the label, is it frozen dessert? Then, I can see that happening.
It's totally worth it to get real ice cream for us, since we don't have it often - Chapman's if I have a coupon, Lucerne from Safeway otherwise.

Ew, yeah, that doesn't look great. Should be a delicious ice cream soup by now. I will be making sure it's real ice cream I buy.

Hewitt's Dairy Bar in Hagersville makes ice cream. You'd have to go to Hagersville to buy the War of 1812 themed flavours.
Sammy's Restaurant in Ancaster scoops Hewitt's ice cream into cones.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

You don't need an ice cream maker, just a good blender.
A couple of weeks ago, I was visiting my neighbour and she served ice cream. I thought it was green tea ice cream, given the colour, but it was yummy. Turns out there was a secret ingredient...spinach! Did I mention it was yummy??? And yes, my brain hurt trying to process the thought of spinach in ice cream. The recipe was in Costco's mag (http://www.costcoconnection.com/conn...103?pg=54#pg54).
btw, as a kid I used to melt my ice cream too & mix in pieces of crackers/pretzels/chips, anything salty (yes, I'm weird ).

I discovered as a child the perils of putting Jelly Tots into a cone with ice cream. The candy became hard and well, it made eating ice cream in a cone more challenging.

I love Hewitts ice cream....especially the Chocolate and Peanut Butter flavour. I know The Barn use to sell Hewitts cartons, but I don't see them available anywhere anymore. :o(
