tea with lemon and honey for a sore throat

gargling with salt water for a sore throat and/or to reduce swelling in the mouth as a result of infection. Hell, I actually use salt water for many things. I'm like that character from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"--where he used vinegar, I use salt water. LOL.

I agree with ninna on both the points above.

Chicken soup - best medicine at its finest for a cold/flu. And garlic, raw.

Eating ginger to help with nausea/upset stomach. I keep candied ginger at home exactly for this. You can also get ginger tea bags, which would help.

Again for upset stomach - drink hot boiled water.

When I feel a cold coming, in a cup, I put a finger of liquor (don't matter which one), lemon/orange slices, a spoonful of honey, and pour boiling water to fill the cup. Drink as hot as I can stand it.

Raw almonds will help with heartburn.

I drink wine, rum and whiskey to stay cold and flu free. In the old days, they use to wash floors with alcohol to disinfect, so I figure that by ingesting the stuff, I am killing all the viruses in my body. All the kids had the flu this year, I did not. Coincidence? I think not!

I drink a cup of coffee or 5 to give me energy when I am sluggish.

I use Absorbine jr. on bug bites. First scratch until it bleeds, then apply some green heaven. It stings like a bugger, but it takes the itch away. WONT go camping without it.

When I get a headache, I send the kids to their rooms. Works great!!
Love like crazy everyday and smile.

Oil of oregano for sore throats and colds. Also good when you have an infection of any kind.

Plain yogurt as a face mask.

Parsley tea, or adding fresh parsley into my raw juice blend, when a period is a little too late for comfort or if periods aren't regular.

Ginger tea or ginger lozenges for an upset stomach.

Clove oil for the winter blues (aromatherapy).

There is *always* a bottle of tea tree oil in the medicine cabinet. Excellent to add to foot soaks to deal with cracked feet, athelete's foot, plantar warts, etc. A great overall disinfectant and antibacterial. (Used externally)

Tea tree oil in kids shampoo to ward off lice. Not sure if it works but the kids haven't had lice even though there's been a few minor outbreaks so I figure it doesn't hurt. lol

Gargle salt water for a sore throat.

Extra virgin Coconut oil for pretty much anything! lol. I use it as a makeup remover, hair conditioner, moisturizer, etc.

Vinegar on sun burns to take out the sting.

    Eat a pickle for hiccups.
Eat lots of garlic (preferably not from China) I haven't been sick in 2 1/2 years.
    Fresh air EVERY day.

Do not over-do sanitization. What I mean is when you kill every iota of bacteria, your body develops no resistance. . .and you actually get sick more often. Hand washing is great. Hand sanitizers, not so much. The only time I use hand sanitizer is after being in a store or doctor's office.

All that said, i_forget's is still my favourite. Lol

P.S. Vagisil works great for mosquito bites too.

Vinegar on a mosquito bite will stop the itch.

For a sore throat (the first stage of a bad cold), make a very strong tea. Fill a cup half full of the tea, top it with half a cup of wine (red or white, the cheap stuff works well too). If it's into the later stages of being sick, instead of wine, use rum - it will help you sleep through the night & the cold will be gone by morning.

For ear infections (for both humans & pups), a 1:1 mix of vinegar & rubbing alcohol does the trick. The vinegar will kill the infection, the rubbing alcohol will dry out the area making it inhospitable for the infection. When I got Lily dog, her ears were badly infected. It took less than a week for them to clear up using this trick (I also used this as a kid, I had really bad ear infections).
