I left my wallet in my hotel room on the weekend and got it back today intact! All my cards and even the cash was still there!

I'd been holding off buying some NCIS dvds for my mother from amazon. Was going to purchase the first 4 seasons for $15/each. But I saw on the blog today that they had all 11 seasons for $100. So that's what I bought. Thankfully I waited it out and thanks to SC for making me aware of the sale.

3 days ago, my bff's beloved pet died while the vet was trying to save her (D was there as it happened). D was devastated and overwhelmed with grief (it happened in the evening and we stayed on the phone, talking & crying, til dawn). Once I was coherent enough, I started hunting for a new roommate for D, so the house wouldn't be so empty. I scoured ads, shelters, rescues, looking for the right fit. Only one person responded to my emails & phone calls.
As of last night, D has a new roommate and Holly has a new home.

For a new job that I found in August, that pays well, has a really flexible schedule that fits around my busy life as a single mom of 5 kids, that enables me to help others, is interesting, challenging, fulfilling, etc. I started off in one career path after university that wasn't for me, took almost a decade off when I had my kids, and when they were little, just doing odd work as needed, and then started to go back more last fall. An early cancer diagnosis kind of derailed all that in the spring, but after a mastectomy and good results (everything was removed, good margins, negative lymph nodes (it was contained!), I started to look for work in the summer. I found this quickly in August, and although not a career path I would have initially chosen, it is based on a lot of my life experience, so it's great to be helping others with what I have learned. It is cool at almost 42 to have found something I can see myself building a career in, and having the ability to support my family.
