Am I able to purchase $75 worth of merchandise, then redeem points and still be eligible for the movie tickets? Or must it be $75 before redeeming points?

There's always that fine print that says "after redemption and discounts", but I'm sure if you ask the cashier she'll give you the movie tickets.
$75 is still spent whether out of your pocket or by points.
Yes, that rule is true. There is a maximum of 3 redemptions in one calendar year...it's in the "Optimum Points Program Terms and Conditions". I didn't know if this rule until now!Last edited by dee; Wed, Jan 28th, 2009 at 10:52 PM.

I wonder if they didn't reduce the bonus because at the 75,000 they give back 10,000 point for those who are plus members.
75,000-10,000=65,000/170=382 per dollar. That is not too bad considering that the old 75,000/200= 375. It means only slightly more than the old bonus event. It does mean that when you redeem on a regular day you still get a bonus of 10,000.
Anyone ever redeem more than 3X/yr?

I don't think the redemption is on this weekend in Nova Scotia. I got the same email about the movie tickets but there is no mention of redemption at the bottom. It does suck if they changed for good. You might be better of redeeming them on seniors day and get the 20 percent discount. It would only be on reg. priced stuff but anyone can do it if you have a senior with you.

What is a PLUS member? And how does someone get to be one?

When I still worked there, you wouldn't get the bonuses if you were redeeming. Redemptions aren't considered "out of pocket" because, well, SDM gives you those points.
Same with coupons. We wouldn't give the bonuses (movie tickets, gas cards, whatever) unless your total AFTER everything (coupons, redemptions) was over the minimum amount. AFAIK, it's still the same.
As for redeeming more than 3x a year. I can tell you that in the past year alone, I've redeemed every other month.
