Why is CHFI Playing Christmas music now instead of Dec 1 . Don't you find that they overkill all the music.

Personally I LOVE Christmas .... My faaav holiday & bday month...I grew up listening to Christmas music early in the Caribbean but was shocked to see it being played so early here (I didn't do the survey... My bad but DS keeping me soooo busy )... I can agree that another week of normal music would be a better idea...I also understand that a lot of ppl get really sad at Christmas so if they listen to this station & hear all this Christmas music, it may just trigger their sadness earlier...i hope not ...oh well, what to do? Tune in to other stations, every now & then? Lets see what The Jester reports if they get back to him after reading his email on current music programming.

My two cents: I agree with all of you regarding the Christmas music, but they've been doing this for years immediately after the Santa Claus Parade (as Hicks said). I think it's because the station gets played in a lot of stores too and being the first to do it lets them call themselves Toronto's Christmas Music Station. Personally, I could handle this much better if they just scattered a seasonal song amid the regular stuff, and then started playing nothing but sometime in December. All this does is annoy me and remind me how far behind I am in getting things done.

Don't know if they think they will get more listeners but I wouldn't listen to it all day!

Just like the stores as well - they just want you to spend lots of money although the decorations do look nice!

Well, I finally got my response from veep Julie Adam. Seems I'm very much in the minority; but I feel happy that I've been heard and the democratic process is alive and well. See below: Hi ,

This is the toughest decision we make every year because we know that a % of the audience don’t want us to flip to the All-Christmas format.
We also know that there are varying views as to what the perfect day to launch is.
Believe it or not, we’ve been getting requests since before Halloween.

For what it’s worth…

Our decision is based on audience input.
We just finished a large on-line survey (our biggest of the entire year – over 4,000 people responded).
Here are the results… (and this is only with CHFI listeners)
Approximately 87% of the audience voted for All Christmas music.
Of the people that want All-Christmas music – 77% voted for us to start between November 7th and December 1^st.
So we went with the day of the Santa Claus Parade which is our annual tradition.

I’m not telling you this to convince you to like it …just to let you know that the decision is based on the input of many.
Believe me, the last thing we want to do in a day is upset a listener.

I am very much a Q107 listener, but I do switch over to CHFI now and then when I feel the urge.... It's nice to know that I can switch over to CHFI anytime before Christmas for Christmas music... I'm not sure how they can have enough material though.... each time I tune in, I tend to hear a lot of repeats...
