The downgrade was free, but we had to spend nearly $300 to break the existing contract to get another one. I'm a bit annoyed since we aren't breaking the contract and still need all the features of the current one. We still need to check and see if all the photos/videos are still there.

    Our cordless electric phones are fried. I estimate around $140 to replace them, but we'll see what we can find on short notice. We're currently using an old corded model that we dug out of the basement, but running after LO, I think a cordless one will be more appropriate without dropping the phone on long distance calls if I need to give her some attention.

    Our modem is dead. I don't know if warranties cover "acts of God", but I've called to find out. If not, it'll be about $150 for a new one.

    The last rainstorm will cost us nearly $600 in total. Argh!!!
    If you have a surge protector like apc....they have lifetime warranties that do cover lightening on it and items plugged into it

    Hi all budget wise this month I suck at it again. Managed to pay 200 on the wrong credit card (grrr) used $$from emergency savings to get a new weed Wacker when irs decided to smoke n never start again.

    We are going out of town for the weekend - using hotel points for a room badly need cheaper groceries and dog food. Had to find a dog sitter. I've been selling stuff on Facebook as well as taking pc jobs but I feel like this month we are sinking.

    I'm hoping I will get reimbursed for my massages and medications soon.

    Had a busy day. Won't even start. Just nice to check in with you.

    I wrote a post on my blog...We have problems...if you have time or it interests you take a look (you have already seen the pictures and know the story). My point? I never have to ask how are you here...we chat and support and sometimes that is just what I need. To everyone with a problem big or small, loving and praying you through.

    I dipped my toes into the shallow end of the Clearly Contacts pool. We have never used them ( DH and I ) before. DD asked if she was eligible to get new glasses yet ( on our plan ) I checked and yes she was. She told us about a BOGO deal, I was nervous but my eldest son on his own said he had np at all getting both contacts and glasses from them, so away we went!
    Managed to get her in for the eye exam between classes yesterday, then when she got home in about 15 min total she had the PAID invoice in her hands. O.K. now I am thinking I gotta mail this away and wait, BUT I just discovered my Insurance plan has an online feature that does NOT require we send them ANY proof of the eye exam or the purchased eye wear, JUST had to fill in the amounts to process.
    This a.m. got an email saying funds would be in my bank account in 2 days!! ( now I must keep all my receipts for 12 months in case I am chosen for an audit, that is np at all! )
    Do you believe this? Also she has tons of money still available to use because these glasses were so inexpensive!! CP delivers them they said in 1-2 days, how is that even possible? I am so happy!! The charges were put on a CC so I love that the funds will be here long before the bill is due!

    Good morning, everyone.

    I didn't even realize I hadn't been on SC yesterday til this morning. Having a round of insomnia these days - I rarely sleep more than 4 hrs a night, I don't think I've had 1 hr sleep in 2 days. Maybe I should blame the yummy Thai food and the roommates who were upset with me for not bringing home a doggy, er, kitty bag.

    Brats are both napping - not sure why, they slept just fine last night (I lay in bed staring at the ceiling, not daring to move and wake them). Better go do something productive with my minimal energy. Like pretend to cook so they'll wake up.

    Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

    Sorry that so many are dealing with stress these days. I sincerely hope things turn around for everyone - a large dose of happiness is in order for all.

    When I was 12, I read a poem that always gives me comfort when things go a bit south (hopefully it has the same effect on others and doesn't make things more depressing).

    Solitude

    Laugh, and the world laughs with you;
    Weep, and you weep alone.
    For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth,
    But has trouble enough of its own.
    Sing, and the hills will answer;
    Sigh, it is lost on the air.
    The echoes bound to a joyful sound,
    But shrink from voicing care.

    Rejoice, and men will seek you;
    Grieve, and they turn and go.
    They want full measure of all your pleasure,
    But they do not need your woe.
    Be glad, and your friends are many;
    Be sad, and you lose them all.
    There are none to decline your nectared wine,
    But alone you must drink life's gall.

    Feast, and your halls are crowded;
    Fast, and the world goes by.
    Succeed and give, and it helps you live,
    But no man can help you die.
    There is room in the halls of pleasure
    For a long and lordly train,
    But one by one we must all file on
    Through the narrow aisles of pain.

    Ella Wheeler Wilcox

    I think it's one of the reasons I try to be as cheerful as I can, dealing with life.

    If you al ready recieve the UCCB you will get the automatic increase. If you never signed up for it, you will need to do that first. I am surprised it says upon approval when it already is a done deal. Check out Canada Revenue Agency website as it las oUT the whole thing. You will be getting the money in July by direct deposit if you have it set up or by cheque if not.
