Expired on: Wed, Jan 27th, 2010The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is proud to launch the Government of Canada’s first contest on YouTube, the popular video sharing and social networking Web site.
Until April 30, 2009, Canadians will be invited to submit videos in response to the question "Underground Economy – Not Your Problem?" through the contest site at www.cra.gc.ca/contest.
Video submissions will be posted to the CRA’s YouTube channel. We are looking for creative videos that demonstrate the negative impact of the underground economy and the consequences for those who do not obey the tax laws. Winners will be recognized with the 2009 CRA Independent Video Producer Award at a special reception in Ottawa in the spring.
What's in it for you?
If we like what you come up with, you could win the CRA Independent Video Producer Award and be invited to attend (at our expense, of course) an award reception in Ottawa for the premiere of your video on the CRA Web site.
An all-expenses-paid trip to Ottawa and a reception in your honour—not too shabby! And your video could be seen by millions of Canadians. It may be used in future advertising campaigns and outreach initiatives.

Here is an FYI for othose of you that may have entered this.
Winners of the Underground Economy YouTube video contestThe Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is proud to announce the winners of the "Underground Economy: Not Your Problem?" video contest. We launched the contest in January 2009 and invited participants to produce creative videos that would demonstrate the negative impact of the underground economy and the consequences for those who do not obey the tax laws.
I am pleased to report that our first video contest was a success on many levels. We received a number of entries and were pleased with the quality and creativity of the submissions. Choosing finalists, and eventually the winners, was not easy.
The award for best English language video went to David Hall, Steven Shanahan, and Trevor Kai of Toronto, Ontario, as well as Oker Chen of Vancouver, British Columbia, for their video entitled You, Me a Butterfly and the CRA. The award for best French language video went to Simon Lavictoire of Saint-Georges, Quebec, for his video entitled Économie Clandestine.
Members of the winning teams have won a trip to Ottawa, where they will be presented with the CRA 2009 Independent Video Producer Award at a special reception.
The videos that were submitted may also be integrated in future outreach and education initiatives to inform Canadians and help deter participation in the underground economy.
Congratulations to everyone who participated.
