So happy, got boys size 10 boots, good until -40 for only $5.97. I got the only pair at the Costco in St Albert, AB. They may not fit this year, but for that prices can store them for a year.Name: image.jpg

They must be on clearance because the package is printed upside down.

^Not positive, but I've heard this means Costco got a deal from the manufacturer.

There's a lot of speculation as to what the .49 (and other price suffixes) means, but it means little.

By way of understanding this, first one should realize that Costco has a very strict narrow profit-margin tolerance. Whenever possible, they strive to have the price end in .99 -- which is very easy to do in most cases, especially if the cost/price is high enough that it can be rounded up to .99 without affecting that window of profit margin. -- Consider that in a price where the item is say $200, adjusting for 30 to 70 cents is too insignificant to affect the margin. However if it's a low price item (think in the vicinity of $10 or less) adjusting the price even 30 or 40 cents could break that strict profit margin rule... so they don't do it. Instead, they'll end the price in the nearest ".x9" they can. So you'll often see prices ending in other digits... .49... .79 or .69 or whatever. (note: the profit margin varies depending on the type of item)

As for the "deal incentive" notion: Any items that were offered up as a promotional "deal" or incentive from the manufacturer/vendor is typically indicated by the weekly handouts... OR if it's a special offer or limited time item, or a Costco exclusive from a major vendor (e.g. Sony), or a special price, or some reason to be 'unique' (eg. special bundle) you might see a price ending in digits that do NOT end in .x9 (like say $76.88 as an example).

For such items, you're also likely (but not necessarily) to see an asterisk (*) in the top right corner of the price sign as well. This indicates that it's a single-run or limited-time item. It probably won't be restocked once your warehouse's allotment has run out... or if it is restocked, then when the next shipment of that item DOES return, it will no longer be at the same offering (could be more, could be less).

For examples, one just needs to look at the volatile items (like computers and technology items) where the price on those items offen drops rapidly from shipment to shipment, and newer versions are released regularly.

Then there are those items where the cost is purely market driven... these are typically fresh food, produce, meats, bakery, dairy, etc. In order to keep in line with their strict profit-margin policy, those prices can/will most likely end in whatever it lands on keeping the margins in check. In some markets there are regulated pricing on some such items like milk, and Costco might have little or no control on the price tag in those situations.

There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to price suffixes at Costco, although you can count on .97 being a clearance price of particular item (or purge of the current inventory).

How is this different from the Pyrex from walmart or crappy tire? It seems they are trying to make it out to be something special when indeed the sticker is just a gimmick. My set is the same but cheaper

"Mine is cheaper" - you keep saying that in many posts, but always neglect to fill is in on where you found it cheaper.

Pyrex measuring cups are usually around $5 - $10 or more apiece (between the 1-cup, 2-cup, and 4-cup sizes that are included in this set), let alone for a set of three. (and yes, at Walmart and Canadian Tire as you say).
A set of 3 will run you about $20 typically... maybe as low as $15 at best on a typical sale.

So where, as you say, can we get a 3-pack of Pyrex measuring cups for less than $7.97 ?

The blue colour is different than the non anniversary measuring cups I think, as it says on the label they are celebrating being a 100 years old. It is probably a limited edition colour.
