You will want to look up your stores online and ask in store about their price matching policy. Walmart is the best. RCSS 2nd and No Frills in GTA matching varies by store. They generally have a flyer by the cashier, I just take a picture of it.

You also want to take note when looking through the sales flyer...it cannot be matched (generally although WM&RCSS often still will) if the item says "selected varieties". An item has to match pretty much exactly. Although it is okay is it states a size (grams, ml, etc) then you can choose the product within those parameters like pizza or coffee for example.

You will want to get to know Smart source, P&G, Healthy Essentials, Websaver, Save.ca etc for the best coupons & keep watch out for the RedPlum & Smart source inserts that come out every few months. Although SDM does not price match it sometimes pay to do shopping for bread, milk, cheese, eggs, milk, canned goods, etc when they offer bonus points and then you can use those points to shop for those items again.

Oh yes. You will also want to sign up for Check Out 51, Zweet and maybe Caddle and Save.ca for Cash Back on purchases. Uploading receipts is pretty easy. I like CO51 the best.

I am still fairly new to all this. I started clipping coupons last April. It does take some time and energy. But it pays off. I averaged, as a single person about $45/month in Cash Back. $100s of dollars in savings on coupons...and just as much with the price matching. Hope that all helps and was what you were looking for

One last thing I came across on Simply Frugal this weekend was the $ix dollar Family & a great blog post about 30 additional things they stopped buying and started making at home on year #2 of cutting back and they said the 1st year they saved $2500 for a family of 3. The post is by Stacy Barr from November 6, 2015.

How much can you regularly save offyour groceries per month on average? As of june ill be living on my own with 2 toddlers and no income. Really bad point in time. . My only income will be the ctb and uccb and some savings.

So how do you price match? Can you take the flyers in on your phone? As screenshots? What do you tell the cashier? Whats the best way to stay organized?

Any tips and advice would be highly appreciated.
Personally, I've been heavy into couponing and price matching since just before first year university. I myself, while in university (Sept. to April), spent $50/month on groceries. I use a combination of sales, price matching, couponing, 'cash back' apps, and in store rewards (points). To price match, I use Flypp (spelt with an I instead of Y, won't let you put it in for some reason), It is a pretty straight forward app, you put in your postal code and it shows you flyers for all the stores in your area. But when price matching, you still have to be careful as to which stores your store will price match. Just before you start your transaction, tell the cashier you will be price matching. Personally, I split up my shop, non price match items first to get them through fast, and everything I'm price matching last. I would say on average, I price match about 50 to 90% of my order. To stay organized with your price matching, It is pretty easy with Flypp, once you see an item in a flyer you would like to price match, you can 'clip' it and it is saved aside so you can easy flip between the different items that you are price matching.

Now, for other ways to save money, If you don't already have the following, I would suggest to get them:
-Checkout 51 ('Cash back' app, weekly offers are given, simply upload a receipt with the item to claim the offer)
-Zweet ('Cash back' app, same as CO51)
-Caddle.ca (Online 'Cash back' app, If you don't own an Iphone, you can do it all online, simply upload the pictures of the receipts to their website to claim the offers)
-Save.ca ('Cash back'/ Flyer app, Cash back aspect once again similar to CO51, Zweet and Caddle.ca, also has a section with flyers, similar to Flypp, but I find not nearly as comprehensive)
-Coupgon (Coupon app, can be used at select stores [Giant Tiger, Longo's, Zehrs, etc], a little complicated at first, but another great way to save money)
-PC Plus (Points app/card, get weekly offers and collect points at Loblaw banner store [Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, Zehrs, etc], you can use your points to redeem for groceries at these store)
-Shoppers Optimum (Points app/card, similar to PC Plus but of course, for Shoppers Drug Mart)
-Air Miles (Points app/card, similar to Shoppers and PC, but primarily used at Metro and Sobey's, they often have great bonus point offers and you can easily rack up enough points for a redeem within a short period of time)
