Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson and former Massachusetts Gov. William Weld secured the Libertarian Party’s respective nominations for president and vice president
The nominations came after an often raucous nominating convention. Johnson was unable to obtain the necessary 50-plus percent of convention delegates on the first round of balloting. He ultimately finished with 55.8 percent of delegates supporting him.
Weld won on the second ballot with 51 percent support. The Libertarian Party selects its president and vice president separately.

RNC Trump formally nominated as candidate
Mr. Trump, the New York real estate mogul and reality TV star, formally took control of the Republican Party on Tuesday as delegates to the convention here officially chose him as their nominee, ending a tumultuous, yearlong political crusade.
The State of New York cast its delegates for Mr. Trump just after 7 p.m. Tuesday, giving him the majority of delegates and crushing, once and for all, the panicked efforts of the “Never Trump” movement inside the Republican Party establishment.
Mr. Trump dispatched with ease more than a dozen establishment candidates during one of the unlikeliest and nontraditional presidential campaigns in history. And on Tuesday, as he became their standard-bearer, the party’s congressional leaders prepared to fete him in from the convention’s podium later in the evening.
Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana, the vice-presidential nominee, is scheduled to accept the party’s nod in a speech on Wednesday evening, and Mr. Trump will do the same on Thursday in a prime-time speech to the nation.

Secretary of State Clinton makes history as Democrat presidential nominee
Democrat Hillary Clinton has become the first woman in US history to be nominated for president by any major party.
She reached the milestone in a roll call vote from all 50 states at the Democratic National Convention (DNC).
Mrs Clinton's nomination comes after Senator Bernie Sanders' supporters disrupted the first day of the convention with boos and jeers.
Party officials have worked to ease tensions amid protest on the floor.
Mrs Clinton passed the 2,382 delegates needed to claim the nomination after South Dakota announced its delegate vote count.

I just watched Madeleine Albright and Bill Clinton speak - the Democrats seem to be taking a page out of the Trudeau playbook with a wave of love, optimism, hope, children and sunny ways.

Trump to Russia: Hack Clinton e-mails
"Russia, if you're listening, I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing," Mr Trump said on Wednesday.
"I think you'll be rewarded mightily by our press."
The emails would contain some "beauties", he said.
His appeal comes as Russia stands accused of hacking emails from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) for Mr Trump's benefit. Both Russia and Mr Trump deny the allegation.
"This has to be the first time that a major presidential candidate has actively encouraged a foreign power to conduct espionage against his political opponent," Jake Sullivan, Mrs Clinton's senior policy adviser, said.
"This has gone from being a matter of curiosity, and a matter of politics, to being a national security issue."
In a statement released within an hour of Mr Trump's comments, his vice-presidential candidate Mike Pence said there would be "serious consequences" if the FBI could prove Russia was attempting to interfere with the election.

I swear the left is mentally diminished in some way. According to the Hillary Camp these emails no longer exist. They just disappeared. They're gone. Poof. Right?
THEY DON'T EXIST. HILLARY SAID SO. YOU CAN'T HACK SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT EXIST.
No amount of hacking can ever find something that doesn't exist, right?
It should be mandatory for everyone on the left to wear a helmet.

Things I learned about Donald Trump this week:
He does not know how to type with more than one hand. He dictates his tweets. He has his staff print out his emails for him. lol let's talk email security!!!
He doesn't read books and is never seen with a book in his home or office.
He doesn't know that the Constitution doesn't actually have an Article XII. He says he wants to protect Article XII - which does not exist.
His wife claimed on her website that she had a degree in architecture but turns out the truth is that she dropped out in first year so they had to take the site down today.
She only started lying about her education after she married Trump.
Great people, lol. Not the kind of people I admire.
