I have not gone back to my dr for pain meds I have been doing without so am not a nice person most of the time.
    Thankfully it was only temporary!
If you need the pain meds.,it might be a good idea to get them,so that you can function better.

Well, I think I'll be breaking down and insisting the dr. do a little more investigating. It's starting to go into my other hip.
    This just doesn't feel right.

It's like someone took my body and twisted it into the wrong direction. Everything feels off balance.

Glad to hear it was temporary, Skippy. Tidytaurus, a nurse once told me to take pain meds if I need them. Said there`s no point in suffering unnecessarily. I don`t like to take them unless I really need them, but I`ll be taking them tonight. I did way too much driving last week. Told DH I feel like such a wuss after seeing on the news that a soldier who lost both his legs ran a half marathon. But that doesn`t make my foot hurt any less. Koala, welcome to the pain management thread. I hope the Dr. is able to find out what the problem is. Dealsniffer, I hope your back is less painful. Here`s hoping everyone here has a better week ahead.

Right foot that is and I think it is becoming worse.
Pain in my back is something I have learned to deal with. But my feet are
something I can't handle.I need to walk so I'm not shut in all the time.
It is pretty sad when you wake up,and the pain is so bad that you are already tired before the day has begun

Sorry, I can't remember, but do you wear orthotics? I used to scoff at them, until I was prescribed them & they make a world of difference. Part of my malaise these days is the pain I'm going through because I need a new pair (the old ones are falling apart quite literally) & disability is taking its own sweet time okaying the paperwork (close to a yr now).

& if you have any sort of swelling in your feet, soaking them in lukewarm water will help (sounds silly but it worked wonders for me when mine were constantly swollen on dialysis & I couldn't take anything for it).

Also, have you tried using a cane? It can take a bit of pressure off your foot.

Sorry if I'm asking personal questions, just trying to think of what's helped me over the yrs.

Hopefully today will be less painful for you.

Thanks for the updates, sometimes reading that others are also having a rough time puts things in prespective. I am so glad we have this thread for sharing, thank you for starting it. I have a couple of pain pills to help on the really really bad days but I don't want to rely on them at all. I am going to try to get some housework done today because we had grandchildren here again over the weekend, I told dh that we can not have any over for a week or two because this is too hard on me.

Were you sitting at the computer too long? That's usually what does me in (can't sit too long, can't stand too long, can't walk too long, etc etc etc). Hopefully you're feeling better today.

Good luck with the MRI. Here's hoping you get a few answers & then things can be resolved.

Here's hoping for a pain-free day for everyone!

Andit your symptoms sound like mine.
I have a laptop and a heating pad,so the computer isn't the problem for me.Unfortunately my condition is chronic.
Many thanks for the encouragement you offer myself and others.May you in turn be encouraged.

The doctors can't figure me out. At one point my family dr thought I might have a compressed disc or some sort of fracture, because if I overdo it (& it doesn't take much), then I get a sharp pain that feels like someone is taking an axe to the middle of my back & trying to chop me down. Of course, nothing showed up. Then again, when I broke my arm (right at the tip where it hits my shoulder), it took an intern to ask what the scratch on the x-ray was - turns out it was me with a hairline fracture.

It`s funny, I think the only thing that keeps me going & doing things (& not staying home resting) is my stubborn nature (I`m a Capricorn - at least that`s my excuse). Of course, it helps that I have an abnormally high tolerance for pain.

I just do what I can when I can. If I don`t do dishes after every meal, well, so be it. We`re getting into the cold season, which means my hands won`t work like they should (tying shoelaces is complete agony). But I have a plan. I found a specialist who just might have the answer I need. I`m lucky in that I have a family Dr who thinks I know a bit more than her (in some ways I do) & is willing to give me referrals. If I`m right, it means I can enjoy all the seasons again. If I`m wrong, then, hey, I tried.

As for offering encouragement, well, it`s the least I can do. What I`d really like to do is eliminate suffering in the world, but that`s a bit beyond my means. I made a promise to myself when I was on dialysis that I would be cheerful no matter what. Others had enough to deal with, without my unhappiness adding to their stress. Some times I`ve failed to be my happy-go-lucky self, but I keep trying. I`m a glass 3/4 full kinda girl.

wow Skippy I hope you feel better soon and Tidytaurus I hope the MRI goes well and Andit I love your glass 3/4 full thing-that is totally you! Sometimes I think it is full tho.
As for me, I finally have my appt with my specialist on Friday! Yay woohoo! 7months instead of 6months but hey it happens I guess. Here's hoping for him to say another "I don't want to see you for another 6months" and not an uhoh and what ever else would come after the uhoh. I have heard lots about a Wii fit and how it helps people who need to do gentle stretching to help their muscles and I am saving for that. My parents are going to help me out with it I think so I can get one sooner (possibly looking at one today-they are on sale!) because I really could use something fun to get me stretching more! lol I am on the Works thing again and I can manage to save a bit each month. My dad would also really benefit from it because he has parkinsons and they have done studies that a Wii actually improves Parkinsons patient's motor skills. or what ever you call the hand eye coordination stuff. So they might chip in a bit. This may or may not be a good idea but financially being on the Works or possibly dissability (and sooner than I thought I could) will help make it possible. It's horrible how I go from absolutely nothing to having some money left over and it is their fault I had nothing. Thanks to everyone who has put up with me and my struggles with the financial stuff and the stress it has caused and stuff. I don't want to have too much money ever this time around so buying something that is in between a want and a need is a good way to do it right?
