hello everyone,
I have a general question about pain meds. I am currently taking hydromorphone (dilaudid) and have been for the past couple of months, is anyone else taking this and did it lose its effectiveness over time???
I know that I have developed a tolerance for Tylenol 3's (don't do a thing), Percocet (same), but I am concerned about what is next if these do not work?
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Hoping for a relatively pain reduced day for everyone.

Hi Jenner! I have no idea about your question and I am hoping someone else knows the answer?
As for me-that darn wii works-I feel it! Can't do much today because I am soooo sore now!!! oops. I think I overdid it a bit. Who would have thought... Anyways I am sick from the darn antibiotics and so I feel awful today! I might try to sleep through part of today if I can. I am exhausted also. Yes not a great day for me but it will get better.

hi tidytaurus. thanks! I did something last night while on the wii and maybe twisted something but the lower part of my spine hurts a lot and it is the spot that is at about the bottom of the rods. It is muscle but it is weird because it feels like it it the rod causing pain but I have learned that it is actually muscle when it is this kind of pain. I have been waiting for this to happen and surprised it took this long to happen. I move more on the wii than I do normally so I guess it was bound to happen. oops. So stuck doing very little today-pretty much immobile. My whole back hurts and because of the pain along my lower back I am having alot of difficulty getting up and down from a laying position. Back to the log roll I guess. LOL My darn hip is also deciding it wants to complain too so pain there as well. It is my fault I know so I should not really be allowed to complain because I overdid it but I am complaining none the less. Sorry. Then there is the darn antibiotics... still not feeling better and the tooth still hurts and wondering why? oh well. If I rest I should feel better soon. But it is so hard-especially with that wii being so fun and sooo tempted to go on it despite the pain I am feeling. I keep thinking-oh I can take it easy and stuff but that is silly because that is what I said last night to myself and now I am not in very good shape. oops. Will I ever learn?

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain dealsniffer.
I haven't posted on this thread in a while.
My leg has been causing me a lot of pain this week. It hurts from mid thigh all the way down to my foot. I spent 5hrs in emergency on Th. They booked an emergency ultrasound for this morning. Had the ultrasound done today and spent another 3hrs at the hospital. Told that they didn't know what was causing all the pain, but the ultrasound showed the same amount of blood clots as the last ultrasound (months ago). Told to contact my hemitologist on Monday. No relief from the pain in 6 days, since Monday. It's really wearing me down.
For those of you who are unaware, I am on my internship as a high school teacher right now. I have a lot of unit and lesson plans to prepare. *sigh* I have not been having a good week.
I hope others are experiencing less pain that me right now.

Sorry to hear everyone`s in pain. I wonder if the cooler temp is adding to it?
Jenner - I'm afraid I can't help you with your question. I'm not on any painkillers right now, cause I already have a lovely cocktail of drugs for the transplant & really don't need to upset the apple cart by adding more pills. I use a yoga breathing meditation exercise to deal with pain.
I`m in a bit of pain myself (well, more than the usual nonsense). Silly dog pulled me round, cause she wanted to see something behind us & I stupidly twisted the wrong way. My hands are also in the early stages of protesting (Dr claims it isn`t arthritis, but feels like it) cause of the cooler weather.
Skippy, that`s very good of you to help out. I wish you a pain free (or at the very least minimal pain) day.
Hope everyone feels better tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that everyone is in so much pain.
Thank you for all of the responses to my question, I am getting more tolerant to the latest pain med and I really do not want to try anything else.....hopefully the doctor can solve this problem for me.
I am trying an arnica gel for my leg cramps and it seems to help, it really works great on healing bruises too!
Hope everyone has a better day tomorrow.

Why do I lash out at those closest to me,when I am in agony?
Things I normally wouldn't say,I do and then I can't take them back.
Sometimes I wonder

Skippy, it's natural...
I do the same. We do it to them because we know they love us, and care, don't like to see us in pain... and they will understand.
I later apologize profusely, and they know it's the pain which made me angry, not them.
