There is always hope(I say this as much to myself as to you)
Sometimes my meds.work and I have no pain for awhile, but not as long as I would like though.
Fortunately I have no problems sleeping, probably because I take meds.for that too.
Depending upon your condition there may be different drugs/treatments you can try.
    Feel free to vent/PM

hey there. Skippy and Abby I really do hope you find some relief! Abby depending on what you have that is causing pain-there may be drugs that you can still try. I remember a few yrs ago before I was diagnosed and I was going through all kinds of tests and the doctors were not taking me seriously-I was in agony every second and I just wished I could die. I thought that I was going to live the rest of my life that way and I didn't want to. I used to wish for just a second or an hour free of pain and thought that isn't too much to ask right? I used to look at other people who didn't have the pain I did and was mad. I got mad at the world. It was not healthy and a very bad place to be. Then the doctors discovered I had kyphosis which was causing a ton of problems all through out my body and now slowly things are improving. Don't lose hope because if you think that you are stuck this way the rest of your life it will be horrible. Also there is hope I think for better days always. For those of us with chronic pain, it may be too much to ask to have a pain free life but I think it isn't too much to ask that we have days where our pain is minimal and we can enjoy life more. I hope you have a good day coming very soon! Both you and Skippy!
I am in a ton of pain myself and have been taking alot of tylenol the past few days just to do basic stuff. I don't know if I pulled something now or if it is something else entirely. It is my mid back and it is pretty painful. I have been laying down an awful lot which gives me time to read but it was tough yesterday because I had to get groceries and then wanted to be outside because the sun is finally out but I could not stay outside in the warmth very long. I did get to enjoy some of it tho. Just when I think things are starting to look up-something else comes along and I move backwards. lol I am coming on here while I eat since I am up anyways. But then I go lay down again. so if you don't see me posting much-it's because of my back. On the bright side-I am eating an apple right now that is sooo good! It is really juicy and sweet!

You seem to have benefitted quite well from your previous shot.
I hope this last shot lasts just as long, and that you may be pain free.

So sorry that you are dealing with pain.

I`m very fortunate to have a very high pain tolerance level (went to a rock concert 2 days after I fell down a flight of concrete steps & broke my arm - I`m also a bit crazy ).

I have a ton of meds that I have to take daily as a result of an organ transplant, so I am very reluctant to add painkillers to the mix. Right now, I have a constant dull ache all over my body, sort of what one gets with the flu. If I overdo it - & it really doesn`t take much - I get a sharp pain in the middle of my back that feels like someone is chopping me in half.

What works for me to get me through that pain are breathing exercises, the type one uses in yoga. Breathe in (while counting to 4), hold breath (while counting to 12), breathe out (while counting to 8). It`s a 1:3:2 pattern. I`m not sure if it`s the breathing that helps, or if I`m so preoccupied with the count that I forget about the pain, but it does pass.

Just out of curiosity, how long did you try each pain treatment? I ask because I've had meds that took quite a while to kick in.

    Hi guys.
I hope some of your newer treatments are helping. I haven't posted in here for a while, but I have periodically checked in on you.

I am currently concerned that I am experiencing an adverse side effect of my medication. Very few people have been on innohep (injection blood thinner) gor an extended period of time. Typically it is used for the length of a pregnancy. I have been taking daily injections since November 2007. I am currently experiencing new and different pain in my joints and tendons. I do not have joint or tendon problems. It has spread from my right wrist (last week) and now is in my left wrist, elbow, both of my knees, ankles, and appears to be spreading. My pharmacist has voiced concerns. I have contacted my hemitologist, but there is not much that can be done on a Friday.

I am attending university full time and this is a really busy time of year. I am concerned about what this is, what is causing it, what they will have to do to find out, and then what my options will be. I don't want to go through the medical wringer...but I will likely be there Monday if this does not get any better.

I am concerned and no one has the answers. As my hemitologist says "there are three similar cases to you, ever, in all of Canada." I am precidence setting and they don't know waht to do with me.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Some only a few weeks-because I had seizures on them or I would start throwing up blood from all the meds --others 3 to 6 months to see if anythings would happen some they would add others or higher doses to see if some more would work...others I had to take 3 months off work to see if they could try them

Abby I really wish I knew what to say. I had a bad headache for over a year but it wasn't a migraine but just a headache that long was hard to deal with. I can't imagine a migraine. There were a lot of days it turned into a migraine but Tylenol 3 worked for me and what I dealt with is obviously not as bad as what you dealt with but I have an idea how horrible it would be. For me-it finally got better and seemed to be a combo of things. Have you had mri's and stuff to rule out different causes? There has to be a cause you would think right? I heard once about someone who had constant migraines for years and nothing worked and they had an experimental treatment that wasn't usually used for migraines and it worked for her. I saw it on the news but I don't remember what it was. I remember the story because I kept thinking I could not imagine having that kind of pain that long. Have you had tests to check underlying causes though? I am thinking most likely but maybe there are some that haven't been checked? Don't give up hope though!

Thanks for the vote of hope it really helps especially when most days i feel hopeless and like a broken record. Or the neurolgist says wow you have tried so much...can you drive can you work i am surprised you can function at all!
I have had so many tests..good news is they never can find anything wrong -no cancer etc..bad thing...they can't find anything wrong to fix ...right now I am on an off market drug for seizures that sometimes works for migraines-not for me It keeps it at an 8 without it ,it goes to 10++++++++..even with it it can go there and it has lots of side effects

Are you on any blood thinners? It`s supposed to help reduce migraines, but it could also be interfering with the pain meds. I was on warfarin for a while, but had to switch to a shot of heparin instead when I was on dialysis, cause the warfarin had a weird reaction with the blood pressure pills I was on. It wasn`t readily apparent that that was the problem, since the 2 aren`t supposed to interact (if I had a penny for every time I heard a doctor say either 'I've never seen that before' or 'you're not supposed to react that way', then I could buy my own hospital ).

Feel free to pm me if you need someone to vent to.

Yes tried two types of those -maybe the same as you said, I would have to get out my list to check-and then beta blockers --right at the beginning--I don't take any pain meds because my stomach is such a mess from them now-they use to try to give me meds to coat my stomach first but i just get hives and my stomach bleeds anyway
