Pad your shoes well with soft insoles, Skippy; I find it helps.
Also, stretch the shoes out with shoe-stretchers; but first rub the insides of the shoes with lotion to soften the fabric or leather.
When your feet are in pain, everything is so much worse.

Have been enjoying a long break, and doing some soul-searching. Hoping this year will be less exhausting and more productive with better decisions and changes.
Last night I was listening to the radio, and got encouragement from the programs and music.
Take care, all; will check in from time to time... and now for a nap.Last edited by Valiant; Thu, Jan 6th, 2011 at 03:32 PM.

I hate when doctor"s say this! I think it is what they tell you to leave them alone! Or when they really have no clue! I hope they can help you...I have seen so many friends diagnosed with this and years later it was really something else! Some lazy doctor's...so frustating
((sorry for the vent))

I actually went to arthritis specialist because my MRI showed arthritis in my back from previous injury did not for one second consider she would come up with this. I did a little online research and will be seeing my family dr next week to talk about this. She seemed to know her stuff and kept apologizing for hurting me over and over. I welcome anyone who has Fibromylagia to pm me as I have no idea where I go from here

There is a support group through the arthritis society - what a great place to start!

Some Alberta posters about FM on oprah's site!

This looks like a nice site -

You might know about some of these already, but I thought they might help. I had some time to go looking....
I don't have FM, but it's one thing that was explored for me at one point.

TidyTaurus - glad you finally got a diagnosis, at least you have somewhere to start now. Hopefully, this means you can get some relief.
Abby - good luck with the new doctor. Go in with an open mind (soo hard to do, been there, done that) & hopefully they have some ideas.
Skippy - how are you feeling? Also did the inserts help?
I've been keeping busy (a little too much) & know I'm going to crash soon. It's been non-stop since the end of Nov, things are finally slowing down. Unfortunately, I got a bit cranky with a friend the other night (he's under a lot of pressure as he's given up his career to be the sole caregiver for an elderly parent) - he got snappy with me & I snapped back (takes a lot to push my buttons, so I know I'm in need of a nap or 20 - took the high road & apologized to keep the peace).
Tomorrow's going to be pedicure day for the critters - tried to get them to give me a massage & OUCH!
Hope everyone has a pain-free (or at least low pain) day.

Having a relapse here; lower back pain agony for 1 week now, and both legs ache so badly, I can hardly move. Had to leave the house once to get my asthma prescription, barely made it home with my walker through the snow, and now my back and legs are much worse again from the effort. Taking Myoflex and Acetamenophen around the clock.
It happened when I was sorting some sewing fabrics on Sunday, and kept turning and bending for over an hour, and that triggered the pain and inflamation again in the herniated disks of my lower spine. Should have known when to quit.
It's been an awful week with the pain. Hoping for some relief soon.

A GBS-CIDP relapse is taking over my body again with contractions in many of my muscles. Thank-you for praying for me. The pain eased a little today for a while. Did my housework and some necessary cooking and baking then. Am finding solace in listening to hymns on the radio. Tried using a heavy slathering of Tiger Balm, but was unable to feel it heat up, the nerves in my skin are so damaged, yet I can certainly feel the constant excruciating pain in the nerves and muscles.
Another big snowfall last night, this morning a snowstorm. Our snow-plough-angel was late ploughing our parking lot, and I thought he wasn't coming. Then suddenly this afternoon, I heard a big roar out front, and there he was...this time driving a HUGE new snowplough, not the little CAT he was using previously. As usual, he bore down on the snow-cover with single-minded purpose, and after just a few efficient swoops and sweeps with the blade, he zoomed off again in a blur of snow. This never ceases to amaze me.Last edited by Valiant; Sat, Jan 15th, 2011 at 12:11 AM.

Spine is better today, the deteriorated disks just needed enough time to compress again and settle into a new groove.
