I'm glad I happened upon this thread this morning, I belong here with all of you. I too suffer with chronic pain everyday
. I hope that everyone is having a "good pain day today" usually the sunny weather helps me a bit
. Having a place to chat with others who know what you are going through and to vent when you are having a really bad day is a great thing
It's really hard for others who haven't been there to understand what you endure everyday. I was in a car accident 4 yrs ago, rear ended by another driver. I now have arthritis in my lower back and pretty much all of my neck. My neck also has really bad instability issues from all of the ligament damage. Oh ya, I have damage to my jaw and back of my head too (occipital neuralgia) and possibly RSD, nerve damage to my right arm, pinched nerves and herniated discs in neck and back. I'm one huge muscle spasm most days. I just say "my bodies a mess"
. You have to have a sense of humor about this pain thing to get through it! I struggle with the limitations I have seen many of you write about on this thread. I always had a very clean house and now it is far from clean most days, the pain doesn't allow me to do many of the things that I used to be able to do. I have learned the hard way, that it's not worth the pain to try and function like you used to be able to. I have tried physiotherapy, chiropractic, accupuncture, natural remedies, yoga pretty much everything available. I find my heating pad is my best friend, it helps to relax my muscles
. I've been doing infrared saunas the last 6 weeks or so since the weather has been very damp and they have helped! Infrared saunas are heated with DRY heat instead of steam, you feel like you are sitting out on a beach in the sun
. When I'm done my sauna my muscles are much more relaxed. I do take some meds for pain, I HAD to give in a little over a year ago and do so because the pain just became too much for me. I don't take any narcotic pain meds on a regular basis as I have a son to look after and they put me to sleep. I take them only when the pain is so intense that it it making me dizzy and nauseous. I thought I was the only one who experienced this, thanks for posting that you also experience nausea with extreme pain Skippy. I always thought the nausea was from the pain increase now I know for sure that it is! I just want everyone here to know that I feel their pain and I'm here for you
. Thanks so much for this thread everyone.

Hello my friends, its been awhile. I am sorry I missed alot and I have read the increase in pain for some of you as well. I have been through a little more since being diagnosed with fibromyagia. I have been to pain clinics and specialists have been on so many different medications and I continued being in more pain. MY pain doctor referred me for surgery fot back issues and the surgeon actually booked it. Last Monday I had an L5 S1 discectomy and spinal fusion. I woke up feeling wonderful and its been a remarkable recovery so far, just had half the staples pulled today as they were loose.
The right upper quadrant pain stopped for about 2-3 days and as soon as I resumed eating and my insulins the pain is back and gradually getting worse. I seem to have a bit more tolerance probably because of the surgery. My doctor finally said he is going to research my insulin and see if perhaps I am having a strange reaction. I really hope it gets figured out soon.
I truly hope everyone gets to experience the joy I felt when I awoke from the surgery and the horrid back pain was gone and then as quickly as I comprehended that the nurse was by my bed telling me to sit up, stand up, and I had already been warned about the get up as quick as possible so I stood up and started walking in one place.
Take care all of my friends here I will pop in again and Skippy I want you to know how much I appreciate having a friend like you, I wish I could swoop down and take all of your pain away.

I know what you mean about the fibromyalgia tidytaurus I've been diagnosed with it too. It just seems to add more to an already messed up body! I'm so glad to hear that you had a successful surgery yay!
I hope your recovery continues to be pain free, what a lovely gift! Best of luck to you in figuring out your upper quadrant pain, atleast your Dr seems to be very understanding and willing to work with you.

This has been quite a week for me. Last Friday, peeps at work were rearranging a work station and had things in the walkway. I came into work and saw the chair, but not the large hard clear plastic mat propped up on the chair wheels. So i tripped and went flying. Didn't fall though. I couldn't stand up so I sat in the chair awhile. They got a wheel chair and wheeled me a co-workers car and drove me home, helped me in and I took it easy for the weekend. I went to my Monday morning meeting and decided that was enough. Went to ER and had a 5 hr wait. Doc had a good look and looked at recent x-ray reports. He didn't think he needed any new x-rays. So he gave me Celebrex to try and Percocet. So I've been trying those and am finally able to function without the Percs. I'll keep trying the Celbrex for a while in lieu of Vimovo, as I didn't think it was working very well. I emailed work about the seeing the doc and that he prescribed a week off. I offered to send in the form if they needed it before I returned. The only thing is my work keeps emailing me. They first said "take your time to rest and heal, but can I work from home". Then they realized I don't have my laptop here (and I couldn't go get it anyway) so they emailed me the links to log in from home. They are emailing me asking me to read things and provide opinions. I had to write today and advise I couldn't report to a client and would they please look after that. Honestly! I am hurt, they saw it happen and I really wish they would leave me alone for a bit. I will be back next week, as things are better today. Grrrrrr
It's nice to be needed, but give me a break.

So sorry to hear you got hurt Tweetybird999. I know it's bad enough trying to deal with pain but for your work to constantly be bothering you! That must be so frusterating
. I know that when I'm down and out in severe pain I just want to be by myself, it's hard to be around other people or deal with them at all. I hope you feel better soon

Hope you're feeling better tweetybird
I had a fae done last week, I'm still dying from it. Some things I thought were so simple and basic just killed after awhile, even sitting killed after awhile! It got to the point were she had some hand strength tests I had to do, and I had to sit on the floor because I couldn't even sit in a chair or stand anymore, it was horrific. A lot of things I could not even do with out supporting myself with something, ugh.. It was crap.

I bet you wish the evaluator could have traded places with you and "walked a mile in your shoes", it's easy for them to sit there and tell you to do this and do that! I've been for so many different kinds of evaluations it's not even funny, most of which my insurance company sent me for to get out of having to pay for any kind of treatment
. Take it easy, listen to your body and rest as you need to for a while you'll need to let it recover from that ordeal. I hope you are feeling better soon
