Current conditions -10, 45km/he winds with 65km/hr wind gusts. Freezing rain last night, which is now covered in small drifts and blowing snow. They aren't sure how much snow we will get before this storm is done, up to 30cm has been forecast.

edit: When I called to cancel my appointment I found out that my doctor couldn't make it to the clinic, so they were opening up extra hours this week to help reschedule everyone. It works out ok because now baby girl and I have back-to-back appointments on Wednesday afternoon.
You've got an amazing doctor & staff. Have not heard of such patient care out here in Hamilton, ON!

Rain here today. Good day to be stuck in work. I can't believe it is March break next week for the kids. I have booked a few days off and we have a free hotel room one night to enjoy the pool and free restaurant meals with my coupons they send me monthly. Perfect! No cooking or cleaning .
Well I didn't do anything last night so tonight it is game on. I even forgot to take the pork chops out so I guess that will be tomorrow nights dinner. We have leftovers to use up so will make a salad to go with it. And slice up cucumbers too.
Renewed my plate sticker yesterday. Paid for 2 years so I will appreciate it next year when I don't have to pay!

    Have a great day everyone!

The 2017 city guides for Toronto and Mississauga are out in the tourism brochure racks-noticed my local community services had them in. Also found March issues of Forever Young (article about Lake District in England and something about Beatrix Potter) and City Parent.

The Caregiver SOS column in the Toronto Star discussed decluttering when an elderly parent seems not to be keeping living space organized and possible reasons why this is the situation. https://www.thestar.com/life/health_...giver-sos.html
I concur with the comment that some seniors might just be managing basic needs-everything else is left.

Found it amusing that the Queen is said to eat Special K? Weetabix had the special mark from HRM on its boxes but I've not ever seen it on the Special K boxes. Cannot fault her for wanting afternoon tea as dinner can be late (8pm) in England and all those walkabouts must inspire carb cravings and a desire to just to be back relaxing.

Ventured yesterday afternoon into Value Village and after over an hour looking (was about to leave menswear because I could not convince myself a short sleeve knit was going to be worth the bother of altering for me), I went back to the women's short sleeve knits and found a basic black top with satin neck binding that screamed it will pair with that black zip up cardigan I bought two months ago. Bought it for $4.50! Looks a little worn but not heavily. It meets my dressy casual requirement. BTW, there were a few brands I did not recognize but knew the tops by their nickel sized buttons had to be 90s fashion or maybe late 80s. Yes, there were some clothes I had not seen on Sunday's visit but it was amusing to find these random buttoned garments and just have a moment checking them out (and all the fabric too but the buttons were the main attraction).

Found a $5 bill (it was in water and had algae! Did use a cart wipe to clean it a second time before using it) again in the ditch just after I found the first of two McCafe stickers. Went on scratch ticket spree and got a paper (the paper is still here but the tickets were $0 ones).

Cut up my t-shirt (the pink one) and used it to clean and to polish my boots (they were looking dusty/rough) last night and laundered my new top. Will start taking apart the dress shirt today and decide what pattern to use to make the new shirt.

Will wait for grocery flyers to decide on shopping list for Thurs/Friday. Got 3 pkgs of pasta at Food Basics so I should be set for the month.

Rainy day here and gloomy-not keen to walk into it at all. It's National Cereal Day-got that tip from a tweet last night!

Baby boy insisted on going to bed too early last night, which resulted in him being up off and on after 2am...up for 1/2hr, slepts for 1hr, then up for 1 1/2hrs, before he slept again. It made for a long night.

The blizzard is still raging outside, so we kept our son home from school. Currently -12, 64km/hr wind with 90km/he wind gusts. A lot of services and programs in town are closed today. Dh is at work. I might take his truck to the store when he is home tonight, if the storm is gone by then. It is 10% off Tuesday and we are nearly out of milk, bread, etc. I might pick up my medication refills too, but I might have to go to the pharmacy again tomorrow to get new prescription for myself or baby girl after our doctor's appointment.

I had my phone appointment this morning with my Hemitologist. He gave me the name of a medication that he would like me to consider switching to in the future. I will not consider changing medications until my twins are done nursing, but that will also give me time to research. It would be a pill that has been used for about 5yrs, so it is still new and they don't know the long term effects. I have been taking my daily injection blood thinner for the last 9.5yrs. It was odd to hear him say that I am his Saskatchewan example that has been on this medication the longest. There are a couple of people in Ontario that have been on this injection blood thinner for 20yrs. There are pros and cons to both medications. The new medication is a pill and it's probably safe to presume that it is cheaper than my current medication before medical coverages are applied.

Edit: Our local health food store has moved its 20% off day to tomorrow due to the storm and driving conditions.

@Ciel great find on the coffee stickers and $5, it pays to walk and pay attention/clean up the garbage

    _________________________

It's a inclement weather day, ds1 made banana streusel muffins his fav. (19) and ds2 made his fav. Millionaire squares. All the baking was done by 930 am I'll leave the muffins out for now as I know eldest has a hollow leg and need to figure out how many to leave out for lunch snacks etc. Dh will be brining Pecan Pear muffins to his work potluck tomorrow.

I made a large pot of chicken macaroni soup. I have 6x 500ml mason jars, I will keep 2 out for dh's lunches and freeze the rest. Tonight is homemade soup with club sandwiches or bacon sandwiches for the kids.

Dh's partner at work fell and hurt herself, she has some sort of condition dh doesn't know what it's called but she's supposed to wear a helmet when outside and doing things. Anyways she fell and wasn't wearing her helmet. She left early yesterday to see her specialist, dh stayed late yesterday to cover the end of day. He called this am to say that he would be staying again to cover until end of day. I guess I'll find out more once he gets home.

We had to cancel ds1's hearing test & appointment which were this am as FIL went to test the roads to see how they were and asked if I could reschedule. FIL is a great driver so if he said the roads were bad, there's no point venturing out and looking for trouble.

As some of you know ds1's love his current winter jacket but the zipper works sometimes and other times it won't. I went ahead and ordered him a Columbia jacket from Mark's it's supposed to be delivered today, so hopefully it fits and he likes it. I still get a price to see how much to fix his current coat. He is into the canvas work type jackets which I guess is on trend at the moment in his circle of friends. I guess time will tell.

    Wishing everyone a great day.

Went to No Frills at lunch to get out of the office. Bought 8pk of hot dog buns reduced for $1.10 (noticed oldest took a package of wieners from freezer out and was eating on own) Will grill them up and they can have their crappy fill of hot dogs. Probably haven't made any since summer. I also SCOP'd a package of Pilsbury cookie dough . We like to make these now again for an after dinner treat, hot out of the oven. yum!

We are currently in the second day of a nasty blizzard, we kept our son home from school. Dh is working in these conditions, so he'll be cold when he gets home. I'm going to make a small pan of lasagne and tossed salad. I might bake something else if I can muster the energy.

Highways in every direction are now closed. This is a screen shot of our highway conditions map.

wow, Angela does you DH not drive for work? I hope he arrived home safely. I grew up just off of Lake Huron so I am aware how nasty closed roads are and its safer for everyone if people stay home.
I am making some space in the storage room to store the kitchen stuff.
J & C: I will post pictures when we get to the actual work. The house is a bungalow built in 1961. The kitchen was remodelled in the early 90s. We bought in 95 & I loved the oak cupboards with the forest green counter top (so 1990) which I loved but I so over it. I know of a group planning a big garage sale for a refugee family so its makes piling the stuff in boxes that we never use of lot of fun. I find decluttering so therapeutic.

Dh was surprised when a guy from his work made the trip down to Estevan and back again today, it was a slow dive back for him. Dh's job was adjusted yesterday and today so that he didn't have to leave town. He still worked his regular hours.

Here is an updated map of the highway conditions. It is currently -11, 61km/hr wind with 90km/hr wind gusts. No new snow since yesterday.

I took dh's truck to Sobeys after he got home from work at 5pm. As I've said before, we live on a busy street, which is close to the primary routes that get plowed first. It was actually smooth driving, but reduced visibility. The grocery store was quite busy. I spent $70 on groceries, saved 38% with in store discounts and coupons, plus earned 33 Air Miles. I also picked up my monthly prescriptions. Once the Air Miles from these two transactions is processed, then I'll have enough Air Miles to redeem for another $100 gift card.

We'll see tomorrow if our son will be going to Pre-K in the morning. Our hospital is located at the edge of our community and I was told today that their parking lot is quite bad and people keep getting stuck. Baby girl and I have appointments in a wing of the hospital tomorrow afternoon, so I'm hoping it is plowed by then.

DH got a tax form from work (T2200?) which lists his work expenses. Unfortunately, it says there are no expenses that he covers which are not reimbursed, and because he doesn't have receipts for them (ex. if other co-workers take his money and purchase things for the business but don't return the receipts), they can't be claimed either. I think this will change in part because he will be covering part of the expenses next year for his company phone, so perhaps some of that will be detailed on his next year's T2200.

I see my taxes have shown up on the CRA website and expect to be assessed by next week. When I logged in, I noticed that I had forgot to contribute anything to my TFSA last year. Goodness, how mommy brain happens! I set aside some contributions to my TFSA, RRSP, as well as some for RESPs for DD2 for when her SIN card finally shows up. That will mean a very lean emergency fund as well as savings for the new car this year.

This past weekend, I went to the library to pick up some new books for DD1. The party room had been rented out for a huge to-do. There was tables of food and most people were dressed up. It turns out that it was a big baby shower. There were huge helium balloons, large gifts wrapped in cellophane, and the gift table was overflowing. As I was leaving, I saw a large SUV pulled up to the building and a few men trying to play Tetris with the gifts stuffed floor to ceiling in the vehicle. DD1 has her first Spiderman helium balloon from a birthday party and is thrilled with it, but I can't imagine some pregnant mum being too impressed with helium balloons. My, how the other half lives! I can't imagine their garbage bin with all the packaging on garbage day.

I returned a defective gift to Costco this evening. I should have done that with DD1's Costco gift as well, but didn't know you could make a return. The thought was nice, but my girls need more receiving blankets and stuffed animals like I need more clutter. There comes a time when there are no more bins or space to store the ones you own. The money will go into her RESP when it opens or I will use it to buy something she needs. However, I will admit that with DD2 and her crazy reflux, I uses receiving blankets as towels to mop the floor when she's had another episode. Poor thing.

@Ciel: It sounds like you appreciate snacks like I do. I can polish off an entire box of cereal in the evenings. I don't know how I'll ever fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes again! I enjoy my snacks a little too much and must find ways to snack smarter.
