I know I mentioned this before but now it's crazy. I was at independent and saw the lettuce for $6.00, I said I'll wait and go to GT, At GT it was $7.49!! I ended up buying the packaged lettuce, which was on sale for $$1.67, when I got to the cash it scanned at $1.97, so I got a SCOP!! So I guess this this could have went in the brag section too !!

I'm guessing this was romaine - which we couldn't even find last week. Ended up buying iceberg and cabbage.

I read this last week, so I ran out, bought and stored in my green bags. This maybe what you are seeing:

yup! I was unaware of the lettuce shortage. Found out yesterday the hard way at WM. I have been on sort of a mission to give WM the least of my grocery $$, but while I was there to grab DH's prescription I snagged 8 mucho grande bags of doggy treats so I won't complain.
But back to the romaine! The 3 packs were $6.00....wtf? There was no iceberg at all available. Lots of overpriced bagged salad kits. I checked with the produce gal and found out then that they are getting very little in each day.
What a week for DD and DH to decide they were going to eat lots of fresh salads and produce, I was really only there to grab that stuff. Oh well English cucumbers were .77 each, that was a relief!

This explains this I was kind of shocked when I saw the iceberg lettuce at the local Chinese was $4.99. I was happy we had already decided we did not want to pick up lettuce this week. Looks like lettuce will be off the menu for awhile

    Facing the same here...

RCSS $5.99 for the 3pk of Andy Boy Lettuce, NO THANK YOU!

Instead I was able to get 2 bags of Dole Salad (Romaine; 255g?) for $5.00 PM'ing Metro AND got 1,200PC, so $3.80 FOOP for some lettuce instead of the $6 they wanted

Well, that explains our sticker shock when buying lettuce on Friday. We were making tacos and needed some. They wanted $4 for a head. The same price for broccoli.

Last month my Fortinos store had signs in the produce dept. explaining produce shortages and the prices due to weather issues in California, Texas and other other US state. However, I've only bought salad mix from Longos ($7.99 regular for organic spring mix or $4.99 on sale the rare time) or napa cabbage in recent weeks.

You folks in Ontario need to move further east.

I'm in New Brunswick, and in the past few days I've bought a head of lettuce for $1.99 and I bought a 2-pack of Boston Lettuce for $2.99.

Ya I noticed as well at RCSS used to buy the 3pk of organic romaine and price went up to $7 noticed the non-organic was right behind by 50 cents less. Safeway hasn't caught on yet and were selling 3pks organic romaine for $4.99

Thank you for the thread and the link. This explains things. One of my stores is selling organic romaine 3-pks for $6.99 now, up from the usual 4.99 or 3.99 on sale. Another store was selling them for 1.99 not that long ago!
