Lot of cities & muncipalties have a Snow removal rebate or subsidy for low income senior citizens & disabled people. So make sure you take advantage of that this Winter. Or tell people who are eligible for it.
For example my city provides a $ 200 rebate for the Winter season. I am helping a low income Senior couple get that rebate.
Their snow removal guy charges around $ 400 + HST per season & gives them an invoice for that. Its very hard for them to do it themselves, with risk of slip and fall, its not worth it either for them. $ 400 is lot of money for them, but $ 200 after the city subsidy is within budget for them.
So the city will give them $ 200 back if they fill they subsidy form & send this invoice along with it. The city doesn't really advertise it much, its hidden somewhere in the back pages on the city website.
So check with your respective cities & their webpages for this rebate, if they have one. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

Thanks.
Each major city in the Region of Durham has their own program.
Oshawa’s service is free, but they only do the sidewalk and what the snow plow leaves behind. They don’t do driveways.
Ajax is $200 for driveway and sidewalk or $40 for sidewalk only. They ask for proof of age and that there is no one younger than 65 who is able to shovel the snow in the household.Last edited by Shwa Girl; Tue, Nov 7th, 2017 at 09:40 AM.

City of Hamilton relies on the volunteer Snow Angel program to match interested volunteers with eligible low income seniors needing help with snow clearing, however demand is usually greater than the number of available volunteers.

Noticed that the City of Hamilton has a Helping Hands program that includes snow shovelling in the services provided list for low income seniors and the disabled.
